radio, the one that goes "I'm doing the best I ever did...go
away"...I guess that's how the chorus goes. I'm sorry, but that
song is incredibly cheesy sounding. The singer sounds like the
guy from STP. Slipknot fucking rules!

For the same reason you feel the need to flood the ng with Slipknot posts I
assume. This is how it is: Slipknot had Ross Robinson, possibly one of the
best producers out there for this genre of music, to produce their album with
RoadRunner backing them. Godsmack, however, only had themselves. The album
is their damn demo. Just imagine how it would sound if Robinson had produced,
or anybody that had a budget behind them? I've never heard Slipknot's debut
EP, so I can't judge them on how they sound without Ross. Get my point?

I dunno,I just couldn't get into Godsmack,I saw em in a small(real
small) club in Philly and then like 5 months later BAM that "catchy"
song that i don't remember the name off is all over radio and
MTV...............Slipknot on the other hand,i never heard of them until
Ozzfest,and when i saw the 18 legged hate machine from Iowa i was blown
the fuck away........but fuck voting it doesn't make a goddamned
difference who wins.........and who reads Rolling Stone anymore.Kerrang!

dont like most guitar solo's,and the vocals arent strong like
Slipknot/Deftones like vocals.Yes I would rather listen to them than have to
listen to ICP.Their not that bad,i could live listening to them,but i
wouldnt listen to them by choice.

Ozzfest and they were both worth listening to. I would vote
for Godsmack if I wasted money on Rolling Stone magazine. I
have the cd and I do like it. I wish this battle of the
bands were all the bands at last years Ozzfest. Fear
Factory and Static-X would put Godsmack and Slipknot to

Fear Factory kicks ass, and yes, I've seen them live. Actually,
I've seen Fear Factory quite a few times, the first time being
about 6 years ago with Sepultura. Fear Factory's
latest "Obsolete" is collecting dust in my apartment. Slipknot
is the better band by far....sorry to disappoint.

Bands like Mr. Bungle, Slipknot, GWAR (underrated musicians),
and Suffocation (the greatest death metal band that ever lived!)
are at the top of my list. Godsmack do nothing for me. If I were
to listen to something in the same neighborhood as Godsmack, I
would prefer listening to Sevendust or Machine Head. That one
song I heard from Godsmack on the radio was enough to disuade me
from listening to them any further. One song is all it takes for
me...sorry.

I loved Godsmack's album. Like others have said, it's hard to compare them to
Slipknot when the music isn't exactly the same. I also don't understand all
this "Slipknot are gods" talk going on. I love Slipknot and their music, but
they are not the greatest thing out there, and they are not all that original.
Not a lot of the bands in this genre are. Korn were the trendsetters, but even
they played off of classic hardcore bands like Biohazard and Suicidal
Tendencies.

that's kind of stupid. there's very few cds where every song is good, i'm
talking *really good*. imo, that is you being close-minded by dismissing a

again, opinion. back it up by fact (although you do not have any). i
personally think it is stupid to compare the two. i like both bands, i
listen to slipknot *way* more, but i wouldn't go as far as to vote for
either band

fair enough, but that is still judging on one song. not to say if you would
listen to them that you *would* like them, but that is still you not giving
their music a chance.

for one, they aren't a 'heavy metal band' (i'm so sick of those damn labels
anyway). secondly, again, you are judging *solely* on the one song you've
heard. i'm sure it didn't help any that more than likely the one song you
did hear was probably over-played (radio stations tend to do that)
