SLOWDIVE info wanted

does anyone out there know what the hell is going on with this band??
i've heard that SBK went bankrupt or something so they had to pay for the
tour they finished out of theri own pockets. what are they doing now??
are they planning on moving to another label..are they planning on recording
new stuff? what's the deal??

oh yeah, do they have any vidoes out????

Let me see...As I remember they had no videos out.....emmm....The female lead
singer broke up with the male lead singer (sorry, I forget the names) and I think
she said something about moving to San Franscisco (because that's where her new
boy friend is). Join the Fanclub, because then she'll write you a letter every 3
or 4 months that keeps you up to date.

well, some friends of mine went to see them in providence and boston
and managed to hang out with them (they are friends of the opening
band Difference Engine). actually, one guy actually sold t-shirts for
them! i digress...
the deal is this:SBK basically decided not to promote the album at all
in the usa. why, i don't know. so, in an attempt to salvage some sort
of sales and u.s. fan base, they did indeed pay for the whole tour
themselves. they are evidentally pretty upset by the whole thing (no
doubt!), but at least the album did well overseas. SBK, meanwhile,
is being a piece of crap, having made the deal to promote a number of
Creation releases (blur, adorable, slowdive) and failing miserably on
each one.
and yeah, Rachel is very good about writing letters, so feel free to
ask her just what's up. as far as her moving to SF, i have no clue.

just a little more info on this...
i interviewed RACHEL before the providence show, and she said while
they are indeed paying their way through this tour themselves, their
home label CREATION did give them a bit of money as well to in order
to help them out...
and she also expressed total disgust for SBK records ("we hate them!"),
and even remarked that "we're hoping to be dropped [from SBK] soon,
actually..."

too bad they have to be going through all of this crap, they are such
a great band...
(and the drummer and bass player were playing the riff from the RIDE
song "LEAVE THEM ALL BEHIND" at soundcheck! that was cool.)
