BBS? Sigh. Okay, whatever. The AOL
access-provider-is-content-provider paradigm is dying, but I guess
there are a few more gasps left in it.

Nope, Aerosmith and Compuserve beat you by about 2 weeks. And
IUMA, bless their hearts, has you beat by a mile. Seeing as
how the single hasn't been released yet at all, it's possible this
is just a promo mix from prerelease 12". Any comment from
the folks behind awe...@aol.com?

But no ftp/web access for this music. Michael, having seen your posts
on alt.culture.internet expounding on the godliness of the wide-open
Internet, I'm surprised this isn't the case.

Are these discographies ones commissioned by sonicnet or plucked off
the Internet? In which case, you should respect the copyright if the
authors of those discog's and pay them per access (or at least ask
their permission first)

Until they get reposted on alt.techno and IDM or other music
newsgroups :)

No no no, it's:
caroline.com
astralwerks.com
matador.com
toopure.com
etc....

*That's* the proper paradigm.

And Cool Beans! BBS beat you to it by about 6 years. People calling Cool
Beans! BBS have been distributing their records/zines/t-shirts/etc since
1988 when the BBS first went up in Michigan and was called PURE NIHILISM.

There is a whole network (loose as it may be) of music/punk/indie
oriented BBSs. I'll list a few of them at the end of this message. Many
offer record catalogs, information about artists, etc without having to
charge money.

Anyway, it sounds like an interesting BBS, but if pay is required for
access you may find people are not into it. Meanwhile, check out the
following BBSs (some of which have been around since the 80s) for free.

Cool Beans! BBS and Zine 415-648-PUNK
Submission Records BBS 612-729-2948
Bing's Haus 304-291-3046
Extreme Books 503-288-3960
Anti-BBS (in Atlanta, can someone post the # please?)
