Just because Storm got the shit beat out of him by someone doesn't mean he's
gone for good. It's entirely possible you've stumbled onto his Werewolf
Research Foundation.
I don't have any notes from the research we did on Storm's site but that name
werewolf.org sounds very familiar. Can one of the other grey muzzles check
their notes and give a thumbs up or down on this site?

Storm appeared here a little after the group was starting to mutate from a
horror discussion group into something weird and wonderful. He posted many
messages and set up the first IRC server for the group. Things seemed to be
going real well, then problems began to show up - people were getting banned
from the IRC server and it became obvious that Storm was busy building up a
group of followers.
Things got worse and the only way you could use his IRC server was if you were
one of his group. All the folks following him drew away from us and they
disappeared for several months. . .
I didn't keep any notes of that black period in our history but I remember
mention of at least 6,000 dollars or more being taken from his followers.
Storm didn't have enough control to keep his people with him and they wondered
off after awhile. Most were hurt and broken in spirit by the experience but a
couple got online and told us of what'd happened to them.
Now you know why it's dangerous to go fooling around with Storm. :(
As far as I know, he's still monitoring the newsgroup so be very careful if
someone sends you email explaining that he can teach you the secrets of
physical shifting for "a price".
You don't want to know what the price might be.

Thanks Flenser, I"d heard of this thing with Stom that 's why I was a
litte suspicious of this site. It is indeed called the Werewolf
Research Foundation, says it was formed back in '90, and, most
suspiciously, mentions making donations. I"m glad my suspicions were
justified, and that I'm not being paranoid. Thanks again the cautious,
waa-hahahaaahahahahahaha!!! how fucking sad is snyder that he's still
trying to suck people into the WRF? dickhead.. but you'd have to be pretty
elderly and grey to remember exactly what happened, those nasty nasty
events of 1995 which culminated in.. well.. ask someone else..
and for all of you who are wondering -
yes, the WRF _is_ what is claims to be - a shapeshifting research
facility.. just a very, very dodgy one..
yes, storm will screw you out of your money - especially if you consider
moving in with him to make a little commune..
yes, people have been screwed before..
yes, storm is a big fat idiot with a stupid car..
no, storm is not (unlike he claimed to be on
http://www.werewolf.org/~storm/ all those years ago - wasn't that little
blue picture _cute!_) a shapeshifter because of some magical ceremony
involving him, his native American friend, a big blue bonfire and some
nasty shit in a bowl (anyone remember that one? cool story!) - i have it
on damn good authority.. but a few of the other participants of the WRF
circa 1995 were (apparently) bona-fide shapeshifters, if not then at
least bona-fide spirit-shifters.. and no, they've long since left AHWW for
other places..
yes, if you nuke Altoona, WI, you will probably succeed in killing the fat
bastard once and for all.. last i heard, anyway..
yes, he runs www.werewolf.net as well, though not www.werewolf.com last i
heard...
yes, he was once on AHWW, and no, he wasn't unanimously chased off,
oddly enough.. he left of his own will because he didn't feel accepted, i
vaguely remember..
yes, there are still people around who get pissed off when you even
mention storm, and yes, i've been personally accosted for this kind of
thing before for stirring up old bee's-nests..
no, none of the original WRFers are still on AHWW (actively posting at
least), but yes, they're still on the internet around somewhere if you
know who they are and where to find them - and unlike storm, they're all
very nice people with very nice personalities... people still (pretend to)
remember what happened all the same, and there's no harm in it..
yes, storm had a technique to turn people into shapeshifters, and it might
have even worked if he didn't try to enslave them in the process.. moron..
no, storm isn't actually pure muscle, he's a big tubby jelly-belly
like Santa Claus only evil.. he couldn't even lift up his nasty little
car..
and yes, he did leave his sneakers behind in Dover
days like that where we really had to worry about lots of scamsters like
storm are generally long since gone, but i'd like to reinforce any warning
and even triple it against involving yourself with the WRF in any way,
shape or form - that's all
(lest we forget.. lest we forget..)

The atmosphere of the newsgroup is so open, it's hard for people to believe
that someone could pull a scam like Storm did - but it did happen. Ben had
problems with Storm the other year after answering email, twas Ben's friend
that apparently beat Storm up. :)
We really need to get the entire story fully documented and included in the big
FAQ. It was a painful incident but one that we've learned from.
Flenser
Wait... when did Storm get the shit beat out of him?

Am I the Ben to whom you refer? I seem to recall Storm showing his
rearranged face a while ago. I put together a story called "Storm Front"
that dealt with what, apparently, some people were seeing as his gearing up
for a "return."
I'd certainly like to hear the real story myself--as with all things, the
tale I told was exclusively fictional. If anyone would like to E-mail me
with the true word, my E is in the sig below. I'm all ears and always
willing to lend a paw.
So he really got beat up? Anyone get pictures? :)

Oh well . . .
Flenser
> I would have sworn it that it was you Ben, that had the problems and posted
> about getting him taken care of.
If I recall correctly, what happened was that a coupel years ago, one of
the newbies on the group was supposedly contacted by Storm via e-mail and
phone. Storm did not get beat up, the person just had a friend apparently
trace his location and threaten to get him into some kind of tax/business
trouble. Frankly the whole thing sounded pretty hokey, and the person who
was supposedly accosted left the NG and changed thair aol address right
after that, so apparently they cannot be reached to ask for specifics.
To sum up, Storm claimed to be able to teach peoepl how to shift. He
apparently was convincing enough that some folks believed him (some people
still seem to think his "method" would work, though I personally thought it
was painfully obvious that he was nothing but a con-artist.)
He got a few people to move in with him, support hi, and put up with all
kinds of crap. He insisted he was the "Alpha" and everyone should defer to
him. HE apparently also convinced people to undergo hypnosis, then
attempted to take advantage of that state to get them to do things they
ordinarily would not, and to fuck up their minds. Which was dumb... you can
frig someone up, but you cannot make them do anything against their nature
under hypnosis.
He mucked with some people emotionally, took advantage of them financially,
and then abandoned ship when they started to get wise to him. He promised
to help them achive the "holy grail" of therianthropy.... what is the
greatest hope, dream and desire for many of us here, and he was nothing but
a liar.
He cannot teach you to shift. He can bullshit and lie and screw you over
though. And there's reason to believe that at least up until recently, he
was still trolling the group for more potential victims, though I would not
be surprised if he's left for greener pastures. Supposedly his internet
service business is doing well.
If anyone offers to teach you to shift... and they want to exact a price
from you... don't take em up on it - they're fulla shit. It may be possible
to learn to shift... and there may indeed be a price... but it's not the
kind of price where you can throw money or favors at another mortal being
that _they_ can benefit from. The price won't be money or gifts or any
other material thing, and no teacher will appear who can do this for a fee.
I worry that people will get the idea that this jerk might actually be able
to do something he cannot... and they might be willign to PAY whatever
price he dreams up... I know how bad people want this, believe me. for some
of us, there ISN'T too high a price tag. But it really ain;t worth it if
you ain't gonna get what ya paid for anyway.
And in any case... there's no free lunch, and you cannot BUY everything.
You must earn and work for some things. You cannot throw money or favors
around for everything. You cannot attain them by giving up your power to
another. Some things aren't available to be bought with anything but blood,
determination, sweat, love and tears.
