Hey Global Warming goofballs, it's 12 frigging degrees here in
Alabamastan at 8:15am and I just heard on the news that there is a
propane shortage in the state because supplies are based on the average
expected need over the past decade of winters. Perhaps the person
responsible for determining the overall needed supplies of propane for
the state is a Global Warming Believer? The lowest temperature here in
Birmingham last year was 21°F. The average Winter low temperature is
33°F here in Birmingham with a normal Winter average of 35°F for the
whole state. So OK you Global Warming nut jobs, what is your
explanation? Make it good, the more deranged, the better. o_O

To validate "climate change" it's useful to look at trends spanning
several hundred years. If so, it appears we are still coming out of the
last ice age.

Global Warming is on the way but there is no /absolute certainty/ the
changes are totally due to human activity. However, since this is a life
or death situation, I think it wise perhaps to err on the side of
caution and NOT FUCKIN' POLLUTE the planet.

I'm interested in that answer too ! It's up to 4° here from an overnight
low of 2° , and this is the second time so far this year it's gotten this
cold - very unusual for this area . I'll be out in the woods later cutting
more firewood - dry stuff , from downed trees that haven't rotted away yet .
Got a lot of them , both standing and down , no one's been cutting on this
land for at least 20 years or more .

It's been below freezing here everyday for the past week. Currently it
is 8° F (13 C).
Wait til the 'snowbirds' come back from Florida and find the pipes in
their houses have burst. Leaving the thermostat set at 50° won't help
with pipes in outside walls. That insulation works both ways.

Look, I know you think Alabamastan is the entire world, but it isn't.
Even though the annual average global temperature has been quite
near a local maximum for several years, the result of that is
more unstable weather patterns, hence in this year's cold winter.

Why would you expect the temperature in any given location to be
strictly linearly increasing? Climate is a complex system,
more complicated than the stock market. Over the last hundred
years the stock market has trended upward, even though individual
stock prices have gone up and down a quite bit. The average world
temperature has exhibited similar behavior.

No scientist has EVER claimed that GW is "totally due to human activity"

Bit late for that. Our species meets all the criteria to be called a parasite on the planet - all take, no give. We even poison our dead bodies so they can't be recycled.

The answer is simple. You BOTH demonstrated your ignorance of the difference between weather and climate. Clue: You both cited current weather as an excuse for your climate denial.

Global climatic change has nothing to do with what your temperature is
today, was yesterday or what the average has been over the last decade or
so.

Just out of curiosity, why do you not consider valid the opinions of people
trained in the science and who base their opinions on years of study and
observstions to which you are not privy?

Also, look as the extremes in weather we have been having, hurricanes, droughts, flooding, polar vortices...

You do not have to be a scientist to make this observation.

This humble chemist has been a global warming skeptic for years.

I'm probably one of the few to have read Al Gore's "Earth in the
Balance" and realize that it was just a political polemic.

The whole issue has become politicized by those that like big government
and can profit from it.

Even if global warming was true, there is not much we can do to stop it,
and there are far more problems on earth that demand more attention.

Right again.

Who do climatologists work for?

The answer is government agencies.

Even scientists learn that the best way to get ahead is to go along with
what your bosses want.

Our state climatologist, a professor at the University of Delaware was
roundly denounced by our Democrat government when he said that when
Mother Nature comes along, you have to get out of her way. Wrong answer
for people that want to increase government control of things.

Instead of worrying about Rush, who isn't an elected official
how about you libs looking at Obama.

Promised to close Gitmo, 5 years later, still open.

Railed against raising the debt ceiling and called
Bush unpatriotic for doing so and voted *against it*.
Now having taken $10 tril in debt to $17tril+, where's
your outrage about that? And he wants it at $20 tril
by the end of his term.

5 years into a "recovery" and we have a deficit that is
unprecendented, $650 bil a year.

5 years into a "recovery" and we have record numbers of
Americans on food stamps and welfare

5 years into a "recovery" and we have the median income
dropping $5k.

The middle east is in crisis, and Obama has Lurch over
in Switzerland at a peace conference. The US position?
Assad must go. The Syrian position, the rebels are terrorists
and Assad ain't going. How realistic is that? Oh, and
with 100,000+ dead, pictures of Auschwitz like photos from
the Assad regime, and Obama's response is: "If the "peace"
talks dont work out, then he will consider sending more aid
to the rebels. The stupid ass has been saying that for 3 years
now. Every interview I've seen in Syria, CBS, NBC, CNN, all
the moderate rebels say they haven't gotten anything so far.

How's all that sit with you humanitarian libs?

Only a complete idiot doesn't yet know that it's climate
change, and not global warming. If today is warmer, it's
because of freon in air conditioners. Or, maybe carbon
foot print. If it's colder, that's due to chemicals in spray
cans. In either case, it's all our fault. It means that we
need to tax the rich, stop driving cars, prevent cows from
farting, and stop using air conditioners. Matter of fact,
we've got to stop manufacturing cheimcals, drilling for
petroleum, fracking, or making asphalt roads. We're
killing the planet, and it's all our fault because we
are evil. Everyone get together, we're all going to cry
and then we'll start a movement to ask Al Gore to forgive
us, and sell us carbon offset credits so we can light a
fireplace to help keep warm.

Does wind chill affect how fast the pipes freeze?
I mean, wind chill like today sure feels colder.
I had a service call, and took a long time for the
truck to heat up. I stopped to fuel up, and it was
some kind of serious cold. When I finish eating

OK, pass a law that prohibits volcanic eruptions which have been on a
rise. A stable climate is actually unusual for our little blue planet.
It only makes good sense not to pollute our environment but there is a
limit when termites produce more greenhouse gas than cow farts and human
activity. It's the 1% elite that the P.L.L.C.F. worship who are leading
their worshipers around by their nose rings and produce more pollution
than anyone with their private jets, limousines and mansions.
Our own Affirmative Action President uses a fleet of huge planes to bop
around the country and the world burning tons of fuel and logging more
air miles than all the other Presidents combined while demanding that
his subjects conserve energy and fuel. Oh yea let the government shut
down power plants while we just pull electrical power out our collective
asses. There has been a slight overall rise in the temperature of our
planet but a Russian scientist, whom the elite save the planet crowd has
ignored, determined that the mean temperature of our neighboring planet
Mars has also experienced the same rise in temperature. The last time I
checked, there were no SUV's or coal fired power plants on on Mars where
most Liberals are from. So the two planets must have one thing in common
that would cause the average temperature to increase.
Hummmm, I wonder what it is? Could it be Al Gore, I know he's from Mars
but I believe he hasn't been back after moving to Earth so there must be
a common cause? o_O

Chaos is a normal state for climate on planet Earth. It changes and
there is no trend up or down caused by human activity. The problem is
with the arrogant junk science morons who believe it's all modern man's
fault that the climate is changing and use that as an excuse to point
guns at our heads so they can take our money and stuff. o_O

So, my best advice to all of you is to plan for temperatures well below

Yep. Heating with wood is carbon neutral in the long run as all wood will _eventually_ rot and release its carbon. In the short term? Not so much. I have been heating with wood since 1976 and over that time all the trees I have burned would not have rotted if left alone.

So many people are humor and irony impaired. I'm sure you never read
about the Russian scientist who discovered that the mean temperature of
Mars is rising at the same rate as that of the planet Earth. It's normal
for the climate of our Earth to be in chaos. Over the past 100 years or
so, we've been spoiled by a fairly stable climate. All those SUV's,
private jets and mansions on Mars belonging to those 1% Liberals elites
who's home planet IS Mars, is the cause of that planet's temperature
rise. Oh yea, I've lived in other countries like Californiastan and I
was in Los Angeles in 1989 when it snowed and I had trouble making my
way to San Francisco due to the snow that was blocking The Grape Vine. I
also lived in the mid Pacific in 1987-88 when a once in 100 year storm
hit the islands. When I came back to the states in 1988, I was going to
go stay in Eastern Mexico but changed my mind when hurricanes ripped it
to shreds. For some reason, in the later part of the last century, weird
weather seemed to follow me around. ^_^

The reality is simple. You Democrats controlled both the House
and Senate for 18 months. You could and did do what you wanted.
You rammed a $800bil stimulus through. You rammed Obamacare through.
Obama could have closed Gitmo by executive order at any time.
Even now, the Republicans only control the House. Why was it that
leaders like Reagan and Clinton could get things done when they
had both houses of Congress held by the opposite party? But
poor Obama can't get anything done, because the Republicans control
the House.

Its clear, he doesn't give a crap about the detainees in Gitmo and
he's played you lefties like a fiddle. Just like the increased

I was never able to complete my degree in physics but I never lost my
love of science and my skepticism of folks demanding I change my
lifestyle because they believe their assertions and theories are the
correct and only ones that exist. I'm suspect of anything a government
want's to force on me at gunpoint based on some scientific theory. I'm
looking at different sources and trying to take in different opinions
and theories from different scientists who's research funds are not
connected to some government looking to use their scientific theories to
point guns at the population and control their behavior based on the
science from those who take money from them. I'm sorry but the boffins
promoting this Chicken Little approach to Climate Change seem to be
obtaining research funds from suspect sources. Back in the last century,
scientists working for tobacco companies swore that cigarets wouldn't
hurt you. My male bovine droppings detector goes off every time
I hear any of the hysteria over Global Cooling, Warming, Climate Change. o_O

What extremes? Hurricanes are down. Droughts are about normal.
Flooding is about normal. Polar vortices are a lame "new" term
for normal.

Not to mention the fact that ethanol is a crappy fuel, cost
way too much to produce, and any purported benefit from the
mandated use of ethanol is offset by the above plus the fact
that cleaner burning vehicles are obtained via modern technology,
not the use of ethanol.

Anyone miss the .99 cent medium sized bag of Doritos? :-)

Hmm, climate is used to ascertain "normal" weather. Observing abnormal
weather in regards to "normal" climate is not unusual. However, it is
true that most people do not look for trends or compare actual data
against perceived and real anomalies.

Depending on the type of tree, I presume? I grew up in a Forrest
and small trees were gone rather quickly. Tasty things for the
insects and such.

LOL! The ozone "hole" alarmist insisted that volcanic activity had
zero impact on the ozone "hole". They would probably insist that
volcano's had zero impact on weather/short term climate, either.

So you admit you think it's actually getting warmer despite abnormally
colder *weather*.

So, which is it?

Speaking of *weather*:

The ozone hole never existed. The anual phenomenon still exist and
will continue to do so as long as there is oxygen in the Earth's
atmosphere, there is sufficient solar radiation to create ozone,
and the Earth continues to be tilted in its orbital plane.

With zero fanfare the ozone hole was declared "healed", but since
the lying shit-heads had zero way of proving their own statement
they kept things mum.

I think the Mars thing is a red herring. We have only a few
decades of actual data on the temperature of Mars and that is
only in just a very few spots where probes have landed. It's highly
speculative as to what the long term temperature on all of
Mars is doing.

We have a *lot* more data on Mars than a couple of decades. We have
records of the polar caps going back quite a bit further than that.
