Well aside from the obvious usage, I always get a kick out of it when
people use boi.
In Portuguese, boi means bull. So it always leaves me wondering if boi's
are full or bull...or actually bulls themselves, quite a difference
between the two.

Well... I guess it seems that way 'cause I stopped watching it after the
censors started cutting it up.... When the Superball (bowl) segment aired in
rerun, they cut one of the lines about some player they joked about.... :\
Mr. Wayans was not happy, but, I think he bowed down to the network to try to
keep the show on... There was a definite change thereafter.......

Nephthys likes Home Improvement. She also likes Seinfeld. I can't
stand either show. This makes for some interesting tv watching when she
comes to visit.

Me, because I am too damn tired to do anything else at nite after work, I plop
down on the sofa and watch the WB "soaps." I grew up in the 70's
(Dallas/Dynasty/Nuts' ;) Landing era), so... At any rate, it's kinda cool to
have so many "darker" ones available for viewing--those TV execs surely were
influenced by our scene, but, that could be a whole another thread...

books/movies to mean suitor. I can't look up to see how it was spelled
since I've lost the book, (anne of green gables) but I am pretty sure
it was spelled boi.

Just re-read that and realised that it can sound very anti-German. It wasn't
meant to, I was just stating that the English spoken by the Q is not "as
native" as the English spoken by myself, or for that matter most of the
population of the UK.
Of course, if you really want to go deep into it the North Welsh probably have
the best claim for a "genuinely native" language.
