Every new mob that i have run into has been FAST FAST FAST.
I attacked a shawdowed man, and with accelerando and drum at level 25
couldnt outrun him. I almost died. Zoned just in time.

Same thing with the new Highland Lions. CAnt outrun them with
Acclerando and a drum.

Is this Verants anti kiting plan in action?

Is EVERY new mob that comes to EQ going to be able to run like a
cheetah? If so thats pretty weak. You shouldnt alter the mobs just to
fix poorly thought out game design.

AHHHH LOOK! Its a ......lowland SLUG and it can run at 200mph.
Then maybe again its just me.

How about the new Deep Water Goblin Pet Wolves in Oasis of Marr
the past day! Wow, these things seem to be yellow still at level
25 and can run at or above SoW. They are charging out of the pool
in the center of the Zone (Specre Island) where I've heard someone
say that there is a second Tower under water (sort of under the
island of spectres). This is supposedly the Plain of Hate entrance
point at some point. Wonder if they are getting ready to put it in?
Funny, these Pets were just showing up a lot yesterday, so it must
be mostly a server side modification. At least they were charging
around like crazy on The Rathe. Fortunately, they are Indifferant
to my Wood Elf Druid...hope they don't become meaner. Oasis is
my new favorite zone for levels 15-20. Even with the Sand Giants,
they don't seem to cause enough trouble most of the time to keep me
from having a blast with Deep Water Crocs, and Orcs, and mummies,
and desert madmen...

Hmm, must be. I've seen 3 new ( at least to me ) mobs:

1) Brother Qwinn, a monk in South Karana. He was walking at normal speed.
2) Some weak, and smallish named Aviak in South Karana, also walking at
normal speed.
3) Brother Zephyl, a monk in Rathe Mtns., this guy was on crack....his
animation was showing that he was walking, but damn, he was moving faster
than someone with SOW.

Yea, I saw those pets a lot too. I was next to p2 and they kept running
back and forth from the spec pond to the croc pond. But BTW, all NPCs pets
are indif because they are kinda like drones.

Did you know that if you charm a druid player (while dueling) they buff
themselves and it doesn't take any manna from them either? ;) Those Orc
preists in oasis make super pets too ;) They just don't seem to run out of
manna, couldn't ask for more, just keep them charmed ;)

But as to those deep water gob pets, those guys are high lvl shamans and
those pets are always fast, even for players.

I have noticed allot of mobs being faster but I have also seen an increase
of npc shamans. And I witnessed and npc shaman sow another npc. A gnoll
Shaman SOWed a Gnoll Pub. That may have happened allot before and I just
never noticed but it explains why those black burrow gnolls are so hard to
catch.

Are you sure he didn't mean gnoll cup? :) Sorry... couldn't resist.

Yeah, it's gone on before. Head over to Misty Thicket and watch Mooto,
the goblin shaman. When he spawns, he casts SoW on himself (just about
any spellcaster that spawns casts a damage shield or other such thing
ASAP, which makes them tough even before you pull them) and then runs
around the other goblin camps in the thicket, buffing them up and
casting SoW on them.

Its just another example of a pitiful attempt by Verant to nerf
higher/power levellers which will have *massively* greater impact on the
lower levels/non-pwergamers.

I have to actually agree with Alasdair here (*gasp* I'm as shocked
as you are).

I was in South Karana the other day getting crafted armour for my
twinked warrior (to all you anti-twinkers out there: please direct
all complaints to dev...@whocares.com) and came across a cyclops.

I thought I'd try and kite it just to see what happens. Well I
could barely outrun it with SoW. I thought I was imagining things
with SoW prior to this (it felt like I was going slower) but now
I'm almost certain that the speed of SoW has been reduced (Wolf
Form is noticeably faster now and that didn't used to be the case).

I don't know about monsters being sped up but either way the
delta for monster vs player speeds has definitely been reduced.

Um also on this point - How can a froglock shaman sow itself inside a
dungeon? If this is the case, shouldn't PC's get this too?

Monsters cheat. Get used to it. They can:

1. SoW inside
2. Teleport when necessary
3. Damage people 15 levels higher than them with spells
4. Seem to have a limitless supply of mana (I watched a lizard page
or protector or whatever it was walk through the CY in Cazic casting
bravery on every lizard there; that was a good 15-20 spells)
5. Seem to be able to cast on the run
And some other things I'm sure I've forgotten.

The only one that really bothers me is 3.

6. See through walls and doors.
7. Walk through walls and doors.
8. Able to stay underwater without drowning.
9. Never seem to fizzle spells or get interrupted while casting.

>The only one that really bothers me is 3.

I hate games that cheat. Bottom line is, if a developer can't make game
rules that apply to both pc's and npc's, then they took the easy way out.
This is why I cancelled my account. I was checking this group to see if
Verant fixed the game yet, but apparently not.. it's a shame because eq had
such potential.

You forgot
10: Fall from any height without taking damage.
11: Harm Touch repeatedly and incessantly
12: Take a bash WITHOUT being stunned
13: ALWAYS know unerringly WHO owns WHAT pet
14: ALWAYS find you even if you are well out of their LoS AND
Hidden/Invis

It is a pity that they have to cheat, but then players cheat too, so
the odds are even, unfortunately it makes things harder for those of
us who play by the rules.

I want a game that is fun and holds to philosophy of maintaining a
certain difficulty level. Verant tries to hold leveling to 500-750
hours to reach level 50.

I don't care if the goblins have race specific spells which allow them
to cast Sows in a dungeon. As a referee of 23 years, creatively
breaking the rules is what keeps players on their toes and excited
(instead of bored). "I almost -died- attacking a new monster" Isn't
this great? Weren't you excited and afraid? Wouldn't you hate it if
you easily wiped the floor with every new creature getting large eps
and treasure from them?

People asked for higher spawning monsters. You've got the pets that
give eps all the way up to 35 at least. I personally have had so much
fun with the pets that I feel like I'm low level again. It's so fun to
fight and occasionally get over run and have to flee but not have to
spend 10 minutes just SITTING there fully healed and waiting for the
next monster to appear. I also like he way that you don't see where
they spawn.

Instead of saying, "Wow! This is great. A lot more monsters to fight!
Thanks Verant for listening to our comments that we needed higher spawn
rates and more monsters to fight. Thanks for adding a bunch of new
monsters for the mid to high levels to fight with a high spawn rate!",
you are yet AGAIN bitching how evil and/or stupid Verant is.

I mean come on, it is possible to say that there is a problem without
turning into an attack and throwing a bunch of curse words and WTF's.
It almost seems ludicrous to me. It's like if they did add a new neat
goblin you would say "WTF! You added a new goblin!" and if they they
DIDN'T add a new neat goblin you would say, "WTF! You didn't add a new
goblin!"

Away from the origional subject, I only have a comment on a small piece of the

So you think 20-31 days to reach level 50 is Verants goal? Dag.. I have 40 days
in on one character and hes only level 35. Now I realize that I am NOT a power
gamer... but I find it hard to believe that in 20 days (and yes I understand
that is Real Life time.. as in /played) anyone but the most dedicated and
twinked character can achieve level 50.

I seriously doubt that Verant wants people to be level 50 in 20-31 days..
