What is the fastest way to raise swimming skill? What stat is most important
for this? I can get a high lvl shaman to buff me in a stata of choice.

Any Special tricks such as:
Can you go in SK guild in freeport and enter water where it is shallow and
turn on num lock and face wall and turn on afk and lvl up?

Thanks
Caladin

In article <8sq5t6$lnm$1...@slb6.atl.mindspring.net>,

The place I have found that this works best is N Kaladim, in front of
the clerics guild. Deep enough to swim, not deep enough to drown. Had
to go feed my daughter, so I pointed my H/Elf at the back wall, hit
numlock and went. Came back to a scroll full of better at swimming,
topping at 35, which is apparently max for my lev6 druid at that time.
Only took about 30 mins too.

Is it actually possible to drown? I haven't tried swimming the OOT or
anything, but if I am traveling west through the Karanas I usually head into
the water in WK and hit numlock, Being such a long zone it is great for a
break, and I have never had problems with my Barbarian warrior. I have been
careful not to wander too far if I am swimming east, I worry about zoning
into NK in the water and drowning.

I also have a Dwarven cleric who neglected swimming until his low teens.
I dove into the water off the Qeynos docks, hit numlock, rested an upended
glass on the right arrow on my keyboard and went out for a coffee. I came
back ~20 minutes later with my swimming skill maxxed. Oddly enough, even
though I was just doing really tight circles, I was quite a distance from
shore when I came back...Tides I guess...

Both these characters have 100+ stamina, however I also have a ranger
with an 80 stamina who, after leveling near Surefall would always hop into
the lake for a swim. It was a great opportunity to practice sense heading,
track and forage. I remember my stamina bar would reach zero, then almost
immediately jump to about a half a bubble. I never actually sank beneath the
waves or anything.

Suden, 23 warrior.

Yes, it is very possible to drown.

It's the opposite of Quake2 - in Q2 lava kills you very fast and drowning
pretty slow. In EQ drowning kills you very fast and lava pretty slowly...

Ya, that trick will work fine. I had been neglecting swimming with my
lvl40 druid because I'd never ventured into a zone that I really needed
to swim much. So a few weeks ago, I went to the pool by the bank in
Qeynos and pointed myself at the wall facing up just a little and turned
on autorun. The most important part was to make sure that I was exactly
perpendicular to the wall so I didn't swim along it and
jump out. I started with 13 skill in swimming(I know, pathetic for a
lvl40 hey :P) and let it run all night. I woke up about 8 hours later
and my skill was at 200. I think that the most ideal place to do this
little trick would be in a corner so you don't have to worry about
jumping out while your afk.
