Thanks
Controlling enchanter pets is very easy. They don't respond
to any commands at all, so don't bother. They will fight the
first thing that attacks either you or them. They won't switch
targets until their opponent dies or they die.
When you hit level 12 and get Charm, you will be able to take
monsters under your control and then you can use all the pet
commands.

I just started a new enchanter after playing a wizard up to 12. (I'll go
back to the wizard eventually.) I can verify that statement... and how!
You have an animation, not a pet.

Semantics. It serves the basic function of a pet without all the nifty
commands. If I wanna call it a pet, by golly, I'll call it a pet. Besides,
it's kind of cute. Every once in a while I polish the shield, and I could
swear I saw it smiling at me...
I don't know if necro pets are any more intelligent than enchanter's. I've
never been interested in playing with dead things.

I know there's a joke in here somewhere about my ex-husband... I'm just not
sure where....
Necro pets are very good at responding to orders.
Tarlak's tanks are quite reliable.

Nope that was a joke about my ex-wife. I miss here sometimes so I decides
to play a necromancer. hehe
Just be very careful to keep an eye on your pet in a dungeon,
especially Animations, since you can't order them to sit down.
There's apprently a "feature" in the Pet AI, which causes them to
relentlessly pace back and forth in most areas of a dungeon. If'
you're sitting in an empty room, this might not be a problem, but
sometimes your pet will go past you into a room you don't want to
enter. I found Guk to be especially bad for this, since those frogs
are more common than spores on bread mold. The Troll I was with
refered to my Elementals as a "summon train" spell.

Gross image. But effective. The English major in me applauds you... The part
of me that's a woman trying to eat her breakfast... smacks you. :D But only
with the utmost affection.
The Troll I was with >refered to my Elementals as a "summon train" spell.
Cute. I'll watch out for it, then, thanks. Of course... at level 4 my
Pendril's Animation spell is pretty useless anyhow. It gets killed wtih one
hit from the mobs I'm fighting now.
Juli's Animation is the 4th level version. You can get that one in Qeynos.
Mircyl's animation is in Highpass, but since we're enchanters, you should
have no trouble getting there. (I got there at 4th, actually, on my way to
Freeport.)

That would be my problem, then. I was relying on the "Players' Guide" to
tell me what spells I needed. Bwahhahaha!! As if.
Thanks for the information. I'll be taking a trip out ot Qeynos.

The animation will only attack only if you are attacked at least once. It
could care less if you are fighting something and it never even tries to hit
you.
