I'm chugging along on the level thing and I should be, if I can keep this
up, 19 within a week or so. I know druids get port spells then, but I don't
actually know how they work. Can someone enlighten me, or send me to a place
which describes them? I've been to Caster's Realm, but all I could find was
the spell listings, not how they work. Do I need a fire beetle eye? ;)

TIA

The port spells "ring of ...." spells that you get at 19 allow you to
travel to other locations without having to bind there.

You target yourself (not that it makes a difference) and then click on
the loaded ring spell you want to use.

In a few moments, you'll appear at the ring specified in the spell.
You'll certainly want to get to West Commons, and you may need a port
to get there. It's where most of your Ring spells for level 19 are
sold.

Make sure to get to Surefall Glade as well. You can buy the Ring of
Surefall Glade spell there, which is really convenient. You'll get
additional Ring spells at 24 and again at 29.

At level 29, you'll also get Circle spells which allow you to teleport
a group of people to the locations for which you have spells.

Your Ring spells don't require a component. Just a healthy chunk of
mana.

Why target yourself? Any spell with a yellow or purple gem does not
need to be targetted... (Unless you're casting a group buff on a group
you're not in...and you have the targetgroupbuff thingie set on)

Eh, it's a good practice to think about what you've targeted before
you hit the spell key.

You'll get the following self-only ports at 19:

Ring of Karana (NK)
Ring of Commons (WC)
Ring of Butcher (BB)
Ring of Toxx (sp?) (Toxx forest)
Ring of Surefall Glade

I don't remember exactly where you get all these except SG but it's either the
druid ring in WC or NK. You can buy SG at the Ranger guild in Kelethin.

You don't need a component. Just load it up and fire away.

Not long. It was added maybe 6-8 weeks ago, if I recall correctly.
