You don't have to go BACK to anything, if you have rubicite, you can keep
rubicite. So look like a big tomato if you want to. And word from the test
server is the ranger chain will be the same AC as ruby WITH stat bonuses. I'd
switch in a second.

It only shows the arms (the poor guy is in total Christmas mode), but I'm

I wanted black, myself.
So did half the known world... but then again we already had one game

Nah, rogue armor should be safety orange, and wearing it should
disable the hide skill.

The rogue bp should have a big bullseye on the front and back to

again, the monsters seem to be doing a fine job of whacking them

PCs are already colour coded. That used to crack me up actually.
Casters are highly colour coded. At low level its:
Brown: necromancer
Red: wizard
Blue: enchanter
Green: magician
(if I recall correctly)
And then around 15-20 it changes:
Black (FBR): level 15-30
Sky blue (oracle robes): 25-40
Dark green (green silken drape): 30-45
Purple (SMR): 40-50
Beige (Cryosik): 45-50
:-)

Me and a party of guildmates kicked Meldrath's scrawny butt a few
nights ago. I'm 22nd level. He was white to me. Only one person in
my party was higher level, a 23rd level bard. We had no healers. 2
bards, 2 warriors, and a wizard. And the little gnome went down.

Yep, that's 5 people. What of it? Don't you got friends?
And no, we didn't get the guards. Or rather, they came later and I
trained them to Ak'Anon where the gnome guards dispatched them.
Well, it mixes up a little bit more than that. The wizard, enchanter, and magician
robes are actually color-coded by city source. I have a magician wearing a blue
Sr. Apprentice robe.
And I have seen casters wearing white -- something not on your list.
But yes, we all look about the same....

I'd be glad for a halfway mark. Make a very large selection of
appearance choices, but no dye tubs or the like. If PCs want fancy
colored gear, give them a good deal of choices for purchase (I really
like regional options as well.. different styles available in
different portions of the world), but don't open the floodgates for
painting the world a tacky collage of ugly primary colors like UO did
with dye tubs.
Lol!
I don't think it's green cos I saw some Ranger Only green plate (I think
from PoF) and if they're smart they wouldn't make 2 different armor types
the same color
I think dark brown or navy blue would look cool
and are they implementing Druid-only armor with the patch too?
Yes, it is mostly by city:
Felwithe: Green
Freeport: Violet
Qeynos: Blue
Ak'Anon: Yellow
Neriak: Grey
Erudin has class-specific robes. I know Wizards are red, and I would
believe the others listed above. All I remember is that I liked my
green robe from Felwithe better than whatever they had for sale. ;)
White robes are probably gossamer robes. Tan are silk, off-white
are damask.

The Shaman Breastplate needs Grizzleknot Bark. As it didn't drop in 10
hours for people fighting regular Ents in South Karana, the only source can
be Grizzleknot himself. A rare (one week apparently) roaming spawn.

If someone could be so kind to ask Brad how he thinks this made camping
better for everyone ... I dont see it?
Actually the Crafted BP is something of a PITA to get. Item required
is a relative rare in Mistmoore.

Second concern: Banded gloves don't exist. Unless someone somewhere can
tinker a mold then you won't see shaman with the gloves, since they
don't quite exist in the game.
Third concern: I'm a Barbarian, so no big deal there but, Trolls and
Ogres start out Kill on Sight with those Barbarians who give the quest.
Ironic how people who chose to be evil and then followed the normal
path for their choice are now punished.
Don't be suprised when something comes out for Shaman and its not
exactly 100% functional. If you haven't noticed Alchemy is
nonfunctional. Barbarians do not show a shield due to a missing 10 meg
file (I am wondering if this could become an optional download perhaps
?), and just to show Barbarian Shaman don't have it so easy, there
happens to be a guard who is aggressive to Shaman in Halas, at least
after running the quests available there.
But on the other hand, every shaman take a deep breath. Things will get
better eventually. Do you complain when Cannabalize in melee range of a
Monster turns it agressive to you so you can heal the tank and you died
? I assume not. The reason many people play Shaman is because we can
wear many hats in a group. People will consider a group complete with
us, but the tanks up front will always wish they had the extra
strength, dex, agl, sta that we can provide. People will always beg you
for SoWs. And last but not least remember that we are there to shrink
our big brothers so they can hit Lord Nag and that they can't take away
from us.

Exchange ideas on practically anything (tm).
I disagree.
I went to Mistmoor and fought there for the first time recentl (prevously
never been past the entrance nor killed anything as I don't like to spend
time anywhere near Shoutdark).
Anyway, a group with a high level Wizard, Magician, Paladin and Enchanter
whom I knew had just had a bit of trouble in the castle and died, etc.. So
I agreed to group with them for a while.
We each had a Talon within 2 hours.
The thing about it though, is that the 4 people in the high forties couldn't
hold the area without some danger (I never experienced this but given two
had died just before I got there and they weren't shitty players from my
experience), then I don't see how people at the level Crafted is worthwhile
could get the Werewolf.
Another poorly thought out placement, IMHO.
Yeah, I've never seen Grizzleknot either, even though I've been in Karana
enough to have seen Quillmane twice. But I was under impression that rubi
plate was pretty rare too. I think I've seen people wear it maybe less
than a dozen times. I think the new quest plat would be more rare though.
About restoring faction. If you are a level 40+ shaman you can go to West
Karana and run between two bandit camps. One small nuke per bandit or one
area damage shot per camp (not sure, do shamen get decent AE spells?).
Another option is to go to Paw and clear the entire dungeon in an hour or
so... All of Karana will be thanking you for weeks.

I'm sure they will eventually fix that. I hope they will at least. But
look at it the other way. Rangers got only 4 new armor items. Sleeves,
bracers and tunic.

Now that is just plain stupid of Verant. Evil races get shafted enough as
is. I heard Trolls and Ogres actually have trouble going into Neriak in
some cases, and now this?

Alchemy? It would have been nice if it was functional, but not really a
big deal. Clerics and druids don't get that either (though they do bitch
sometimes about it) <shrug> Shamen are still great with or without it.
I've grouped with them, and they are awesome! I've played a shaman to
level 16 so far and it was second most fun character after my druid (just
a personal preference)

It was a company oversight, apparently. Sometime last week, a few days after
the patch, they fixed it so that those Barbarians are indifferent to Ogres and
Trolls. Well, Ogre and Troll Shaman at least, don't know about Warriors or
SK's. :>

There are also ranger gauntlets, leggings, boots and a helm :)
|There are also ranger gauntlets, leggings, boots and a helm :)
No one has actually gotten the gauntlets or boots yet. The gauntlets mob
is too rare and does NOT drop the item you need (he drops a PART of it; there
is a rumor that the other part is on the live side of LGuk but only because
some non-Ranger claims to have found it there). The boots require Ronium,
putting Rangers into the same boat as (and direct competition with) Paladins,
needing the same items and master-level Blacksmithing. Oh, and you have to go
build your faction with the Paladin guy in Temple of Ro first so you can get
the Ronium quest. Only one person on EQRangers has indicated that they intend
to even try for the boots, since they can't possibly be worth what the quest
requires.
The leggings require gathering multiple rare drop items from multiple rare
spawn mobs, the worst of which is a 90-minute spawn in the Ocean of Tears with
a placeholder that spawns instead 75% of the time. And it can't be soloed (at
least by a Ranger; I'm sure a caster of the proper level can make it
spontaneously combust), so you'll have to convince several of your friends to
park themselves literally in the middle of nowhere for four to six hours
minimum. And no, the leggings aren't worth it.
Neither the leggings nor boots quests are given up front; the leggings
quest opens up the boots quest and it's believed that the gauntlets quest
opens up the leggings, but of course, no one has the gauntlets yet. The
leggings quest was found by people playing word games with the NPC.
In short, yes, they got SOME of the Ranger quests right, or at least close
to it. Three of them are completely insane. It seems from what I've heard
that many of the pieces require defeating mobs considerably tougher than the
mob that dropped the equivalent Rubicite piece, which is a questionable design
given that the armor was intended to replace Rubicite. This is a bigger
factor for Rangers than for other most of the other classes because Rangers
have nowhere to go between Banded and high-level gear (LGuk, Nagafens,
dragon/PoF) except here, which means that while other classes are chasing down
their targets in Bronze, we're doing it in Banded.

Honestly I doubt we need blacksmithing. If we do, well, I guess I
won't get the boots then.

Well, I left EQRangers, so it wasn't me... but I'm doing the boots
quest just so I can be the first person to say that they did it. I
betcha I beat whoever said they're doing it on the mailing list.
Raising faction with temple of ro enough for lord searfire to give me
the cauldron cost me around 500 plat BTW... given in 3 plat
increments to Ortallius' master in south ro. No level 30 ranger can
afford to give away 500 plat.
Raising faction with the clerics in Kaladim cost me around 380 bone
chips... I was buying them for 10 plat per stack of 20, and killing
decaying skeletons all day long. No level 30 ranger can afford to buy
them, and I doubt many of us have the patience to kill all of those
skels ourselves.
And just think, Paladins need to do that SIX TIMES! God, I feel bad
for 'em.

Actually, it would take some real effort but I could afford it, and I'm

I would think that waxing Shadowed Men would be a better way to gain the

Well, I chose the quickest way to gain faction with both the temple of sol ro
and the kaladim priests.
You can also hand in dervish cutthroat rings, three at a time, to Ortallius, or
you can hand in "an item" and 20GP to the wizard to gain faction. Either one is
a lot slower.
As far as the bone chips... well... any ranger over level 5 can do it,
eventually, by killing decaying skeletons. But that'd take LITERALLY forever.
>I would think that waxing Shadowed Men would be a better way

Sure. It might take a couple of days killing (dangerous) greens, but that'd
work too.
Honestly, I'd bet any amount of money that dwarven work boots are better
