Ok, I have been to Tox forest 4 times in the past 3 days. Every time I
go, I am the only person in the zone. Why not make mobs there that high
teen to mid 20s can kill. This will take away from some of the camping
issues. Or at least something useful out of the zone. It is a joke to go
there. Why let a zone like that go to waist?

They all go to Qeynos - faster and easier to level there and in BBurrow.
Retooling Tox like SplitPaw would be good.

its a pathetic newbie zone. Even as an erudite mage I went to Qeynos to
lvl. Tox should be upgraded to more mobs, more visibility. newbie monsters
b4 bridge. Guards at the bridge and good lvl 6 - 12 mobs after bridge.
Then again it may be upgraded when paniell gets there...if ever

yea but what happens to the Erudite Necro's who have to start in
Paniell...they will have to run across a zone to get to Erudin. And if they
revamp it like splitpaw there is no way they are getting there.

Maybe put blackburrow type mobs there. And please make the zone a little
less dreary. Maybe a blue sky. Thats also a reason I think no one wants to
go there. Dont even get me started on kerra isle which SHOULD be a 25+
place. Cause Odus is a dead isle.

And when is the hole gunna be released?? Hopefully it will be after the
Airplane. Cause its almost time for the expansion...2 months left?

And even newbie erudites migrate to the fields of North Qeynos as soon
as possible. It's a newbie zone, but a downright awful one.

Huh?? What about kerra? its in tox and it is for mid teens i believe. And
there is a zone going in over where the two skeletons are in the cave, a
necromanser city i believe.

Toxx has some very nice stuff going for it as far as being a newbie zone goes:
It's got merchants in the zone, it's got the Necromancers guild out there so
young necros can buy and sell without having to venture past the guards, it's
got the "hard" and "easy" sides of the bridge, some quests, water, it's the
only zone adjoining Kerra Ridge, and both wizard and teleport spots. Erudin
itself is a very nice city, not too hard to get around in, with a good Library
for pure caster types.

So why does no one hunt there?

1) It's a dark and foggy newbie area for a nightblind race.

2) Not enough mobs.

To me, #2 is the bigger problem--not enough to hunt. You can run around for
several minutes hitting F8 and the only things you'll target are guards,
merchants or stuff too far away to find (or cast on). While #1 is certainly an
incentive only to those who're looking for a challenge (and a potential
detriment to some), if #2 was resolved and there were more mobs, I think we'd
see Toxx become a *much* more popular place to hunt.

As noted, there's the "easy" side (snakes, decaying skeletons, low kobolds, no
newbie fodder higher than a fire beetle) and the "hard" side (nothing harder
than a skeleton). I'd like to see the "easy" side get more mobs and the "hard"
side get more--and a better selection of--mobs as well... Harder snakes, a few
more skeletons, the likes.

Then it'd be a wonderful, out-of-the-way place to level a newbie, and it'd make
up for the difficulty of being totally blind at night.

No one hunts in Kera either. Blackburrow or even Everfrost is much more
convienient and useful. The only time anyone goes anywhere in Odus (other
than Erudin itself) is Erudite necros who can't find a higher level
person to invis and bind them in Qeynos. And as soon as they do they
never venture past their guildhouse again.
For a newbie zone IT SUCKS! The guards are WAY too passive (you have to
run MoBs past them to get their attention most times), the zone is very
sparsly populated, the MoBs that are there are too far away from the
guards for a good chance of making it to the guards in case of things
going bad (if you can even find your way back to the guards), there are
too many high level (to a level 1) agro MoBs like the poacher running
around, it's FAR to dark (every newbie that has hunted in Tox will be
without their newbie shirt, they've always lost a corpse in the fog).
Verant, PLEASE retune this area to make it useful (make the damn Hole
shift or something that causes the change if you need a story behind it).

And of course is there any ETA on the Hole and Paineel?!?!? I know people
are predicting that it will come with or around the time of the
expansion. How about some oficial word? Just a "It is/isn't being worked
on and will/won't/being looked into coming eventually" would be
something. For places that are told of being so important to the land in
the History is sure does suck that they don't exist in the world right
now (but HEY! Yet another plane is being opened, YIPPIE! That should
solve that whole non existant plane overcrowding issue!!)

That cave with the skeletons is completely not worth it. Its fine
until you happen to kill a skeleton within range of the npc necro
that wanders around there (who is about level 30). Then, as a
newbie, he'll kill you in about 2 hits. Enjoy the run back from
the other side of the zone.

Personally I hate Qeynos, Qeynos Hills and Blackburrow. Too crowded
and (in BB's case) too many trains.

I started a human druid (before my wood elf druid) in Qeynos and
deliberately went to hunt in Tox Forest instead. Hardly anyone
there and the kobolds sometimes dropped backpacks and things (which
were great for a newbie). Sure you can't see in the dark but thats
not a huge problem for a spellcaster. I simply did laps of one of
buildings (usually the one closest to the Erudin gate) and cast
at things in the distance.

Relying on guards is pretty overrated. I never much cared about
dying when I was below level 5. In fact below level 4 its beneficial
(since you get a new stack of food and milk). As others have pointed
out, for some classes (like warriors), deliberetly kiling yourself
is a valid tactic as it can take less time than healing.

Nonsense. I've run two newbies through there (one an erudite magician
and the other the human druid I mentioned).

: Verant, PLEASE retune this area to make it useful (make the damn Hole

: shift or something that causes the change if you need a story behind it).

The only thing I'd suggest changing about Tox is not making it pitch
black at night. Particularly because the Erudites who start there
have no nightvision whatsoever (for the elves in Greater Shoutdark
its not so bad since they have infra).

Kerra is train central though (if you want to try and hunt beyond
the first few cats). Now theres a zone that needs retuning.

I don't know what server you play on but on mine (Fennin Ro) plane
crowding IS an issue. Guilds tend to negotiate who is doing Hate and
Fear (each can easily fill up to 60+ people in each). Likewise for
the dragons, guilds tend to take it in turns (a good argument can
be made up upping the spawn rates on Cazic, Innorruuk, the Draco,
Vox and Nagafen).

It's just another example of bad game design, dont let it bug you too
much. Frankly, if Paineel and the Hole are not in the patch, I doubt
we will ever see them. Erudites are too small a part of the server
population to bother with.

What woould I like to see? As others mentioned - the Tox Forest zone
is handily broken into two spots - before and after the bridge. Now,
it is supposed to be a 1-8 level range - but thats not really the
case. The before part should be 1-4 like North Qeynos - rats, snakes,
kobold runts, fire beetles, etc.

After the bridge, we could have mobs ranging from 4-8 - the kobold
camps, various kinds of other mobs - giant rats, large snakes, large
bats, wolves, and so on. Of course, I believe the entrance to Paineel
is on the other side of the bridge, so it could make it harder for
newbie necromancers to get to the other side...

Kerra Isle is supposed to be a 6-20 level range dungeon, but I think
it should be redesigned into a 8-25 dungeon - so that Necromancers
(and other Erudites) can make their way to 25 without ever leaving
Odus. Its a small continent, but it is a continent nonetheless - it
should have the capabilites of preparing Erudites for the adventures
on Antonius and Faydwer.

Of course, Kerra needs to be totally redesigned in order to reduce
trains and such - sometimes I think its even worse than BB.

Of course, I'd also like to see the fog removed ENTIRELY in Tox
Forest. Vision is bad enough in there without the fog. But that wont
happen now, will it.

The whole continent of Odus is a joke... There are three zones... Look at the
map that comes with the game, if Odus was anything like that, it wouldn't be so
retarded... Tox should be low lvl before the river and 5 to 15, resembling
East Commons after... The Grand Plateau could be a 10-25 zone... And hell,
all the rest of the continent could exist as well.. Just a thought...

You guys must admit that the whole continent is severely lacking. From the
map that came with the game, it looks like they 'forgot' about 10 zones -
and Erudin is too nice a town to just support the occasional newbie!
Despite denials, i bet that at one time Verant had big plans for Odus, but
then screwed it up....
