I like all the other, quieter pets much more than the howling shaman pet....

If enchanter pets were commandable I'd tell him:
/pet stop that damned pacing!

If you turn off 3-d sound effects (just bring the sound realism
slider to under half-way) then the wolves stop howling.

I use /pet sit down also. The shaman pet howls every 9 seconds.
Problem with the command is the pet stops wherever the mob dies
after a fight and does not come back.

"/pet guard here" should work. I think it will make it sit, but I know
for a fact that after a fight it returns to its spot.

It will still howl though. And as stated above, the only way
to shut it up is to do /pet sit, which will cause it to sit
down after battles (and not come back to it's guard position)

The howl can be annoying, but there's not much you can do
unless you keep a good handle on /pet stand up /pet sit down
prior to every fight. (which can be problematic in pitched
battles needless to say)
