Ok, when dragging a train, you should yell train. But when near death, how
can I do that when, if you stop to type, you die? I think I've got this
figured out. I can program it into one of the social keys, then move that
social key to one of my hotkeys. That way, I only have to click on a single
button while still running. I'll have to try that the next chance I get to
play.
Would it be better to /yell or /shout?

When you've got a train on your trail, /shout it. Try to include
generally what the train consists of, and where you're training it to.
Use the autorun feature. I believe the default autorun button is the
NUM LOCK button, but I remapped it to the =/+ key (slightly easier to
locate in an emergency.) When you press this button, you will
automatically start running in the direction in which you're facing.
You can modify your direction with the left/right keys, but if you press
the forward or backwards key, it will cancel autorun. This should give
you enough freedom to type, unless you have to make lots of turns (like
in dungeon tunnels.) If you're in a twisty dungeon, then a train hotkey
is a good idea.
/yell is pretty useless for announcing trains... what other people see
is "Soandso yells for help from ahead and to the left." It is better
when you've only got one or two moderately difficult mobs on your tail
and want help in finishing them off. People who hear yells will usually
run in your direction... the point in announcing a train is usually to
give people a chance to get out of the way. :)
At level 2 you aren't hunting anywhere that really requires a shout of
TRAIN. Once you get out of the newbie hunting grounds you'll probably want
to create a hotbutton announcing the train (/shout TRAIN TO ZONE, for
instance).
/yell (or /y for short) is used in case you're about to die and pray that
there's someone nearby willing and able to help you. It means "please come
here." If you used it to announce a train, you're likely to get people
killed. :)
Make a hotkey that says:
/yell
/loc
/doability 1 (assuming ability 1 is sense heading)
Another handy hotkey is:
/loc
/doability 1 (same assumption)
In fact, any social you make, add the sense heading line. The more hotkeys
it's in, the less painful it is to train it.
For dragging your corpse, make a hotkey:
/corpse
/doability 1
/loc (eh, who knows, might come in handy)
Actually, if you are fleeing, it's a good idea to always be pressing
Ctrl and the right or left arrow, it lets you move faster and escape a
beating on your flight to the zone or guards. Combine this with the
occasional use of a space bar and you can outrun almost anything in the
newbie zones.
Using /loc regularly is a lesson everybody needs to learn eventually,
learning it at level 2 you aren't going to be out too much. I hit /loc every
time I start a battle, just in case some huge aggro mob jumps me in the
middle. It's a little tougher if you are trying run, you might want to
hotkey it as well. I don't like a pile of hotkeys, so I just type it once
and then press shift and up arrow, that lists your last command, then enter
executes it.

You can still use the arrow keys to turn when autorunning.

You can program it to do something like this:
/shout Train to zone!
/em screams in panic!
/say Run for your lives!
/yell
/loc
Or however you want to do it :-)
If you know ahead of time what you're likely to meet, and what route you're
likely to run to for your escape, you can include the mob and the name of
the zone you're headed to in your /shout. A general "Train to zone" works
in someplace like Blackburrow, where the two zonelines are relatively close
together.
In someplace like the Qeynos Hills (with at least four zone lines scattered
far apart), or one of the Karanas (outdoor zones with vast distances), you
should make it more specific which zone you're headed for.

Set a social key for Sense Direction and /LOC. Use it continually to
up your sense direction and when running for your life. Don't combine
your LOC with a shout. One shout or two is a warning; more than that
as you get your location is an annoyance to other players.
Fortunately, you probably didn't have anything irreplacable. For some
races/classes, losing a low level corpse can be very annoying. E.g.,
many Iksar classes get a no drop item when they turn in their guild
note, and there is a series of quests for them where each quest involves
turning in the current item and some other items for a better item. It
is very annoying for an Iksar in the midst of one of these quest series
to lose a corpse!
When you get to level 4, and after you have bought your most important
level 4 spells (and any level 1 spells you want but hadn't gotten around
to buying), look around the vendors in your starting city and try to
find which one sells chipped bone rods. (Probably the one that sells
potions). A chipped bone rod sells for about 6 or 7 plat, and has 3
charges of "locate corpse". Scout this out ahead of time, so that if
you are in danger of losing a corpse that does have something on it you
care about, and can't find a necro or bard to help, you can quickly buy
a rod and find your own corpse. After you find your corpse, gate home,
and go put the rod in the bank (hopefully, with 2 charges left for
future emergencies). (I mention level 4 because before you've bought
your level 4 spells, it's probably better to lose the corpse rather than
spend 7 plat on a rod).
To use a chipped bone rod, you go to the zone the corpse is in, target
yourself, and right-click the rod in your inventory. It will turn you
to face your corpse. If you are lucky, you then just hit auto-run and
cruise on over to where the corpse is. If you are unlucky, that runs
you into a wall or hill or something, and you have to go around. If you
are smart, you make sure you've got a fair amount of room when you first
use the rod, do a /loc, run a ways toward the corpse, and do another
/loc. Then, after going around any hill or wall that gets in your way,
you can get out some scratch paper and a calculator and figure out where
to run, so you don't have to use another charge from the rod.
When running for your corpse, put "/corpse" on a hotkey, and hit it
every couple of seconds, while you are targetted. That way, if you run
near your corpse but don't see it, you'll see a message telling you that
you are dragging it. (This is also good because sometimes the corpse
ends up in a tree or underground, and you *can't* see it).
