You know how a lot of runners will dash off a little bit, maybe out of
range, maybe to the next room? Then they come barrelling back?
Well, this one time we managed to end up fighting two different
gnolls, one of which conned even to me ... and I couldn't kill him,
and Cristos was busy ensnaring the other one ... so he got away. And
stayed away. For a looooooong time. Like, a couple of minutes. We
were a little worried, since we had both been deeper into that
dungeon, and died there (Cristos more than once), and we had seen some
of the things in it. But then some new gnolls spawned, so we kinda
forgot about that one 9th level gnoll who had retreated ... now
several minutes earlier.
Next thing I know, I hear the door opening behind me. "Uh-oh" is my
first thought. Cristos was facing the door, and we each had a gnoll
we were beating on, and we were both basically at full health. Then,
several things happened all at once. Cristos says "RUN", my text
window FILLS with "a gnoll bashes you for 9 points" and "a gnoll
guardsman slashes you for 18 points" etc etc etc, I am stunned and
spinning around, and my speakers are blasting barking sounds, enough
to send my girlfriends parrot flying off his perch, my heartrate hits
180 in half a second flat, and I am pressing the up arrow key hard
enough to break it ...
We both made it out with a little bit of life left (we were only a 10
second run from the dungeon entrance), but we learned a lesson: never
ever let a runner escape in a dungeon. That one pesky gnoll went and
got 5 gnoll guardsmen and 4 regular gnolls to back him up. Cristos
said the doorway (a very wide double doorway) was filled with fur when
it opened.

There is a bug which you are probably aware of, where you fall through
the world and take 100000 damage. Monsters can do this too (and
apparently not take the damage) and are left down there for a bit
before they get reset. Not sure if this happened in your case but it
happens I have been told.

What, are you a high elf pansy? Stay out of our forest and our guards
won't have to "chop you down." :)

Sounds like my new haven of late, Split Paw. Those buggers are tough when
they ask their brethern for help. Hehe. Luckily, there are a few good
spots near the entrance to handle trains....
