To Jonathan:
------------
This is the first time that you ever post in any of the Doom-related groups,
whether in a.g.d or r.g.c.d.*. You are obviously not providing any useful
information. Instead, you are trying to wreak havoc in the newsgroups and
boosting your ego by starting a new flame war. People like you are the worst
thing one can find on the net: you have just discovered one newsgroup and
one way to annoy a great number of people by raising them against each other.
So you post provocative articles, in the hope that people will get angry
about it, post a followup and increase the noise level.

To all other readers of these groups:
-------------------------------------
As you have probably guessed, this guy (whom I have never heard of before,
although I have been on the net for a long time) is trying to start a flame
war in the newsgroups by posting provocative articles. Don't fall in his
trap: resist the temptation of posting a followup, even if you strongly
disagree with what he said. He is trying to get everybody's attention, and
the more followups are posted (even if they criticize him), the more
satisfied he will be. Instead of posting a followup, e-mail him directly
and tell him that he is acting like a 3-years old kid (well, of course you
are free to choose what you tell him :-). You know how damaging flame wars
can be in a high-quality newsgroup, so I urge you to complain to him. If
he repeats this by posting other useless and deliberately provocative
articles in the newsgroups over the next few days or weeks, this will prove
that his only intent is to destroy the groups that you are reading. If he
becomes such a nuisance, then it will be time to complain directly to his
system administrator for abuse of the net (but that should only be done if
he continues posting such articles).

The rec.games.computer.doom.* newsgroups provide helpful and accurate
information about Doom, Doom II and Heretic. Everybody has the right to
speak and express their opinions (we all live in free countries!), but
nobody has the right to intentionaly create noise in these groups by posting
flame bait. He hopes that lots of people who are not aware of how Usenet
works will fall in that trap and post a followup, thus increasing the noise
level and slowly decreasing the quality of the groups.

Don't let him destroy your newsgroups!

By the way, what he means by "alt.games.doom also has information" is that
he has re-posted the RGCD FAQ in alt.games.doom. Not only this is ridiculous
because the FAQ refers to other documents that are specific to the
rec.games.computer.doom.* groups and cannot be found in alt.games.doom, but
also this is a violation of copyright because the RGCD FAQ is copyrighted
by Frans P de Vries. Re-posting this article without the author's permission
is a violation of existing laws. Of course, Frans would probably allow almost
anybody to copy this FAQ, because its purpose is to inform and to help as many
people as possible. But in this case, the RGCD FAQ is used as a kind of
weapon against the RGCD groups! One more proof that this guy is trying to
wreak havoc in the newsgroups. He did not re-post the FAQ for helping people;
he did it for getting everybody's attention and annoying the people who are
trying to help the new readers of these groups.
