These men were orderd not to fire on unarmed men. When the Marine shrugged,
he should have been disciplined (i.e. relieved of duty, reprimanded, cited,
and scheduled for a courts martial) on the spot.
These Marines are simply out of control, all the way up and down the chain
of command. There's no point in lying about it. They're bad Marines, and
bad Americans, and they need to be out of Iraq.

Well, it seems to me that any sensible person should reserve judgment
on the matter until the facts become known, if they ever do, and if
they don't then that will of itself be evidence.
But to judge the soldier guilty or simply disregard the apparent
circumstances of his action seems to me to be prejudging the matter on
ideological grounds and not on the actual circumstances in question.
