John 3 is Jesus talking about a subject that Nicodemus
did not know about yet, though Nicodemus was a teacher

Being an expert in scripture, and allowing scripture to interpret itself,
I do not agree with what you have said in the immediate sentence above.

First of all, yes Jesus said that when someone called him good,
but he was first of all wanting to be humble, and second of all
I think he meant that only God is TOTALLY OR WHOLLY OR THOROUGHLY OR
PERFECTLY GOOD, because Jesus also said and earlier:

MATTHEW 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh
his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and
on the unjust.

In which I think he meant good as in mostly good, or for the most part good,
in other words more so than not, or 51% or more, or nearer to 100 Perfection
than nearer to 0 Total Failure, however you prefer to look at it or call it,
which is the fact of reality, that each of us are either mostly pleasing
God with our desires thoughts words deeds or else mostly pleasing Satan
with our desires thoughts words deeds; not a single one of us is totally
evil or totally good, and only God is totally good.

And there are dozens more scriptures that refer to people being good or
righteous. Your A + B = C equation above is of your own human reasoning
and imagination rather than what scripture tells us.
