I believe that you were not seeing the windshield being replaced at
Parkland. The trunk was where they kept a plastic cover for the limo for
inclement weather, if I remember right.
There is NOT a theory as to the limo being taken to Detroit, it is a
witness statement of actual happenings. The witness was George Whitaker,
a manager for the Ford plant in Rouge Michigan. He was called in to work
by a VP to help in his glass shop. when he got there, the door was locked
and when he got in, he saw the windshield on a stand and it had already
been taken off the limo. The limo was in the process of having its
complete interior stripped out and replaced. That would destroy any
evidence that might have been left.
The windshield had a clear through-and-through bullet hole in it
slightly on the left as the driver would see it. Whitaker had enough
experience with bullet tests that he knew that it was a bullet hole, and
he knew too, that it had come from the front of the limo, since the way
the safety glass breaks when hit tells you that.
The details of the story can be found in the book "Murder in Dealey
Plaza", and the short story in the book is called: "The Kennedy Limousine:
Dallas 1963".
