I know Dave Von Pein quotes Bell saying that the shots came from above
and to the right.

This account is consistent with that.

Dave, can you give me a cite on Bell?

.John,

Most of these sources aren't really what you're looking for (since you
want sources leading to the "direction" of the shots, and these
sources relate mostly to the "number of shots" these people heard),
but I'm going to post this stuff anyway. Maybe you'll find it useful
in some way:

Jay Watson and Jerry Haynes (WFAA-TV)(Part 1 at 3:30 and Part 3 at
7:45):

Merriman Smith (UPI):

Pierce Allman (WFAA-Radio):

Hugh Sidey (Time Magazine)(7:04 of Part 1):

Mal Couch (WFAA-TV):

Bob Clark (ABC)(the 25:00 mark of this 1996 video):

Note to .John --

You've already got Couch and Clark listed on your site, but I included
additional sources for both of those witnesses above. I tried to find
a source for Robert MacNeil re the direction of the shots, but I
haven't found one yet.

Hmmm, this wasn't directed to me, but I've already got quite a few who
aren't on that list, in preparation for my new major article on the
earwitnesses. Some cites for them have already been posted by me in
"Anthony Marsh says I can't do this ;-)" and more are to come. Hugh
Aynesworth definitely needs to be on your list, as do Aurelia Alonzo,
Thomas Atkins, Ann Atterberry, Robert Baskin, Mark Bell, Ernest Brandt,
Jack Brooks, Margaret Brown, Mike Brownlow, Peggy Burney, Henry Burroughs,
Francine Burrows, Frank Cancellare, Edna Case, Bob Clark, J.W. Courson,
Robert Croft, and Ann Donaldson. A couple of these are questionable as
far as contemporaneous documentation regarding them really being there
that day, but most of them are solid in that regard.

Make sure that you only quote the Warren Commission testimony. Don't
look for affidavits. Don't watch or listen to any TV or radio
interviews. Don't read any books.

His perception seems to have changed after he was told that the sniper
was in the depository - more proof that you always want the earliest
recollection.

How in the world does the above quote by Jack Bell help the CT/Grassy
Knoll crowd, Robert? Do you think there were "caverns between tall
buildings" on the Grassy Knoll?

Those comments by Bell certainly suggest that the first shot he heard came
from an area that was BEHIND the President's car -- i.e., somewhere
"between the buildings". That description can't possibly be referring to
anything near the Grassy Knoll.

Newman said the shots came from the "mall" and then "that garden."

If you insist that any imprecision on the part of witnesses who said
the shots came from above and behind the limo disqualifies them as
Depository witnesses, then quite a few of the Grassy Knoll witnesses
have to be knocked off the list.

Sounded "as though." Learn English.

So what? That was only for the first noise he heard.

David, you seem to be confused about who you are replying to. When did I
say that Bell reported a shot from the knoll?

I said he changed his story and he did. In story #2, the shots came from
high up in the depository.

Not high up in the air, there weren't:-)

And of course, in his original story the final shots were closely
spaced. I noticed that in your reply, you snipped that little gem.

"In quick succession there were two other loud reports."

Nothing gets by you, does it Dave:-)

So? What's your point, Tony? (And remember, I haven't mastered English
yet, so talk real s-l-o-w when you explain it to me. 10-4?)

So, you think Jack Bell belongs in the "Shots Came From More Than One
Location" category, eh Tony? Any cite for this?

Except for that shot at Z285 evidently. :)
