I recently had a power outage where I can no longer access my device. My Boxee still play media so I know the bx is up and running but I cannot get the box to respond to FTP and http:// requests to login in. I am not super technical but need some help to access the main login screen to I assume start the FTP server back up. The box has a static IP assigned which I can ping but it will not let me log into it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If the box can be accessed through MS-Windows (Samba/SMB/CIFS), but ftp/ssh/telnet/webUI etc can't be used, then 'inetd' is not being run.

Press the back recessed reset button for more than 10 seconds but less than 20 seconds (the two front leds should start flashing twice a second) and you can telnet the box as the 'root' without password. Then execute the command 'rcinetd start' and if it starts OK then the webUI should be accessible.

Read the "Button Recovery Actions" in the "About Buttons and Leds" wiki at http://sourceforge.net/p/alt-f/wiki/Home

Thank you for your reply. I have tried to telnet to the box with no luck. I hold the rest button down and as soon as I do both HD lights begin to flash on the front if the box. Are they suppose to stay flashing? If so as soon as I let off the reset button they stop flashing. I tried telnet while holding button down and no luck either. Sorry I am not an expert. I am using telnet in the Windows CMD line on port 23. Should I use a different software instead?

You should use port 26, read the "Button Recovery Actions" in the "About Buttons and Leds" wiki at http://sourceforge.net/p/alt-f/wiki/Home
