[field_]search.formats << :yaml

Can somebody explain to me the benefits of the various search-formats? E.g., what effect has

...

conf.field_search.formats << :yaml

...

What can I do with searching, what I couldn't do without?

yaml, xml and json formats are usually used for APIs or exporting. If you
can't see the benefit of adding a format probably you don't need it.

Oh, I am actively using them for exporting. But I thought, search.formats would influence the way, the search itself is performed, or the way how the search criteria are given or give some additional information about the data to be searched through.

<action>.formats add formats to respond_to method
