Appeal for News of Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan

On the 5th April 2010 Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan was abducted in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE along with two other dentists. There has been no news of him since.

Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan is one of the most eminent dental surgeons and a leading academic of Pakistan.  He is head of the Dental Faculty at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore and Professor of Community Dentistry, Riphah Islamic International University, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.  He has represented Pakistan in the field of Oral Health Sciences at international level and has been a leading light in the field of dental research.  At the age of 51 he has achieved what most people are unable to achieve in their lifetime.

As a teacher of over twenty five years standing he is well known in the medical and dental fraternity in Pakistan.  His charismatic personality and kindness towards everyone around him has made him extremely popular with his students and his colleagues.   A caring father, a devoted husband and a compassionate human being, Dr Ayyaz is being dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.

To date there is no news on Dr Ayyaz’s whereabouts by the government of UAE and his disappearance has not been acknowledged by the government of Pakistan.

It defies belief that such an eminent teacher and academic could go missing in the UAE under such suspicious circumstances.  This is a wake up call for anyone with a conscience, and particularly the people of Pakistan.   We appeal to the governments of the UAE & Pakistan to provide information regarding Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan as a matter of urgency and facilitate his release as a matter of priority.
