Hi all!

I have a few queries regarding ordering from sites in the UK. I'd like opinions from people who've ordered, regarding shipping and customs duty.

I'd like to order a pair or shoes and pedals from chain reaction cycles and the total bill amounts to 70£ which is approx 7000INR.

I've chosen shipping as standard shipping at 10£.
- Anyone knows what service is that?
- Also what about customs and how does it work?
- Where will I have to pay if there is duty imposed? And how much? Any way to get around it? (Since I hear some folks get lucky)

Thanks in advance
Nayan

I had ordered a Garmin device, in August. I had to pay custom duties
to the postman who came to deliver the device to my home. And from
what I'm hearing, chances of getting off without any duty has become
negligible lately.

How much did you have to pay? In relation to the amount you spent on the device?

Different items ave different %age. I had to pay a hefty 40% duty.

Some places, like Amazon.com, take a "deposit" towards customs and duties. Is that enough to cover the costs? Or how does it work?

I was thinking of ordering some stuff as well, would like to know how it works.

I had ordered some headphones from Amazon US. Did not have to pay extra duty, only what Amazon charged. It was worth it because Amazon price + Amazon duty was still 3k lesser than the Indian price.
