2022 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION COMING SOON!

PAST CAMP INFORMATION:

Summer 2021

Camps will be from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM on Monday - Thursday. Friday will end at 1:30 PM. We encourage parents and families to come spend a little time with us on the last day to let students show/demonstrate some of their activities for the week.

All camps are taught and supervised by Eanes ISD teacher and with Westlake and Eanes ISD robotics students as counselors/mentors.

Python Programming

  • Computer Programming – Python

  • Incoming 6th - 9th grades

  • Learn how to program with Python, which is the fastest growing programming language. We will be learning how to use an online coding environment to develop programs. We will learn how to use variables, data types, expressions, input, output, boolean logic, if elif statements, for loops and while loops, arrays (lists), built in functions, and write functions. Many real world examples will be utilized.

Python Programming

  • Computer Programming – Python

  • Incoming 6th - 10th grades

  • Location: Westlake High School Robotics Building

  • Learn how to program with Python, which is the fastest growing programming language. Learn how to use an online coding environment to develop programs. Students will learn how to use variables, data types, expressions, input, output, Boolean logic, if/else statements, for loops and while loops, arrays (lists), built in functions, and write functions. Real-world examples will be utilized. Program a robotic car during the week as well.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) in a week

  • Incoming 3rd - 6th grades

  • Location: Westlake High School Robotics Building

  • A fun, interactive, hands-on camp for kids who are interested in LEGO robotics. Students will learn how to build and program an EV3 LEGO robot to compete in an FLL Challenge scrimmage at the end of the week. They will learn the basics of building a sturdy and reliable robot, as well as techniques for strategizing and scoring points. This camp is the perfect introduction to FLL Challenge, but will provide plenty of challenges for students who already have a year or two of FLL under their belt.

  • If the student has a Spike Prime LEGO robot kit at home they would like to build with, they are welcome to bring it. A limited number of Spike Prime kits will be available to build with.

Go from ZERO to WOW with the new VEX Go Robotics

  • New VEX Go Platform Robotics Kit

  • Incoming 3rd - 6th grades

  • Location: Westlake High School Robotics Building

  • The new VEX GO platform is designed for students in Grades 3rd -6th. It is similar to the VEX IQ platform but the pins are easier to insert and remove, the pieces are color coded for easy reference and it uses VEX Code to program the robot. VEX Code is used across all VEX platforms. If interested, you can purchase the VEX GO Robot kit for your child to continue their STEM activities. Costs of the kit from camp will be $125.00 and can be added at registration. The camp provides instruction on the building, programming and problem solving tasks. The programming software is free.

  • We are pleased to offer this new VEX Robotics platform for students in Grades 3 - 6. After completing this class they can compete in the VEX GO classroom challenge "Level Up". Information on how to participate is provide during the course.

Learn to Program in JAVA

  • Computer programming in JAVA
