Welcome to the Triangle handball group. Whether you are new to the sport, or an old pro we hope that you are playing handball and having fun. What is handball? Simply put, it is racquetball without all the racket, but this description is an injustice because handball is much older than racquetball. To get a feel for what handball really is, one must play. Our motto: “Less talk more bounce.” Here are some quotes from the United States Handball Association (USHA) that describe what handball is:

  • “The Oldest Game Played with a Ball”
  • “The Best All-Around Conditioner, according to the President's Council on Physical Fitness”
  • “Great for Kids since it helps develops both sides of the body and brain to aid in learning.”
  • “The game is not easy, though, and the camaraderie is a result of the players knowing what their peers have gone through to reach any level of proficiency. The use of the off hand, the chasing of a ball traveling off walls and around a room at 80 miles per hour requires the utmost in concentration and that's what draws the game's constituents back day after day for a refreshing workout.”
  • “Handball draws the cream of the crop when it comes to athletes and society.”
Handball is also described as a “rough-and-tumble-blue-collar-sport”. For more information or to get a game in contact The handball club at North Carolina State University (NCSU) at handball-club@ncsu.edu, or trianglehandball@googlegroups.com or visit our website:
