According to Adam Greenfield, City WalkShop experiences are "Collective, on-the-ground, in-the-field discovery experiences around city spots intensive in data or information, during which people are analyzing openness and sharing/documenting the process online."

During City WalkShops, people with different perspectives — the architects, the designers and citizens — on the same city can come into direct contact with the technologists, the geeks who implant and manage the digital infrastructure on our behalf to explore and expand our understanding.

The New York City CityWalkShop will help us to better understand ourselves, to explore our urban environments and to explore where the physical and digital meet in the city of New York. Plan to participate and:
  • explore and explain to others where the physical and digital are meeting along the route of the "walk" part of this event
  • think of living, dynamic, Internet-connected systems that "sense" our passage, our movements
  • build upon our diverse points of view to help others see themselves, their city and technology
