On Sunday, October 5th the Public Service team was up and on-site before the crack of dawn to support the annual Richmond Hill Run for the Cure, Breast Cancer fundraising event.
We were very fortunate to have unprecedented mild early morning weather compared to previous years of early morning frost, rain or mild flurys.
The event was well attended by members of the radio club and others which also included a few newbys to public service. The communications trailer was also on site and once again was included in the RFTC visitors Passport, as an exhibit to stop by and see. Great exposure for HAM radio and the radio club.
Many of the HAMS who participated had done so previously and seamlessly managed the inbound people and vehicle traffic. They then sequayed to their run event posts where again their previous experience at this and other events provided great communications on the whereabouts of the runners and walkers throughout the event route.
The event went off without any major incidents and the entire event seemed to run smoother than previous years. There were 1835 registered participants and it was estimated well over 2400 people in total including well wishers on site. The event raised an estimated $472,890.00 based on pledges. This far exceeds previous years post covid totals.

A special thank you to Chris VA3DXZ for transporting the Comms trailer to and from the event. An honorable mention to Barry and Roger for set up, manning and teardown of the trailer.
This event concludes the 2025 events calendar, barring any unknown fall requests. I would like to thank everyone who has participated in this year's past events and look forward to what events 2026 will bring to the club.
One again, Thank you.
