YRARC Call Out 2025 York Region Pride Festival and Parade

The York Region Pride committee has reached out to the YRARC to once again support this event.

The radio club will provide communications and safety for two days.  Be sure to understand that our members safety is our first priority and that we report only, we do not ENGAGE in any incident. 

Given incidents in BC and other parts of Canada and North America. there will be a heightened safety awareness, security and protocols in place. Agencies from local to federal levels will be participating in some shape or form. This is another great opportunity for the radio club to be in front of the many agencies that also support the Emergency Communications planning that previously Mike VA3MCT had worked on and now Rob VE3XBI has taken over.  

There is a meeting later this week that should provide more details, here is what I can share with you.

The event will still be held at the Riverwalk Commons area, downtown Newmarket. There are some changes this year, here are the high level changes. 

• When: Saturday, June 21st and Sunday June 22nd..
• Time:  From 10:00am to 10:00pm both days.
• Overlay: The grounds for the festival will be laid out differently. Details when available.
• Events:  
• The Festival (Bar, Kids Play area, Entertainment, Vendors, etc.) at Riverwalk Commons will be active from start to finish.
• There will be a Trans March at 3pm Saturday
• The formal Parade will be at 6pm Saturday.

The radio club will require a plethora of volunteers to cover this 2-day event. I am anticipating the need for 30 plus volunteers to support over the 2 days.

Alan VA3WAH has volunteered to manage the radio club's participation in the EOC both days. 

Dave VA3DCY and Barry VA3LLT have volunteered to manage the trailer transport and set up. Date and time are TBD. 

To support the high level advanced planning for this event, please let me know as soon as possible what days/hours that you are available.
