Hi All,

See this video by John Kruk on May 13, 2022, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHVk4nKbqcY

If you are using Windows 11, the new Yaesu PDN cable for the mobile radio is SCU-58.  This new cable is backward compatible.

I almost switched to Windows 11.  Now I will wait until I can get the new cable.

I am running windows 11 and the old cable - that came with the FTM-100 - and is also usable with the FTM-300 seems to work fine.

Is there some reported issue with the OLD cable and Win 11 ?

It's probably a driver thing with the chips they used on some of them.  Are they a usb serial interface?  A lot of counterfeit chips ended up in the supply chains over the past few years, and the official chipset drivers for some of them detect and spike the counterfeits in some of the newer windows versions.

I read somewhere it’s a driver issue in windows 11, windows 11 drivers no longer supports the old chip on the scu cable.

All I can say is Windoze is PITA!

The problem is Windows keeps prompting you to update.  If you are too quick on answering the prompts then the updates start.  After that, it is clumbersome to stop.  If you stop it then it blocks all further updates.

Many people accept the updates to keep up with the OS fixes.
