Weather plays a very important role in our lives and for most of Southern Ontario is one of the primary causes of emergencies. Between damaging hail, ice storms, tornadoes, lightning strikes and as we now face extreme heat which overloads electrical systems and buckles tracks affecting rail transport and forces people into special community centers, relabelled as cooling centres so that people can get relief from the heat, weather affects Ontarians in extreme ways.

There will be NO Thursday meeting so that people can attend the Canwarn sessions.
YRARC Winlink Wednesday #13 - Call to Action
This week's "YRARC Winlink Wednesday" is to get your local weather report from the Winlink system using the Winlink Catalog Requests
Then send a winlink check-in with the name of the successful catalog request that you got back with the title: TEST TEST TEST - CATALOG.
The Winlink Catalog has many types of reports that you can ask the system for. You could try any, but one that is relevant to our area typically would be :
If you are feeling more adventurous, ask for the GRIB file Request, also located in the settings menu.
I suggest you do both of these over a FAST connection like VARA FM or over the internet using TELNET. You will make two connections. The first request from the catalog puts an entry into your Outbox, which you then send.
On making a subsequent connection, you will have data sent from SYSTEM that will be the response to the catalog request (or GRIB file request if you choose to try that).
