YRARC Winlink Wednesday #10 - Call to Action
This week's "YRARC Winlink Wednesday" is to test the "system integrity". This is primarily the same as last week, but practice makes perfect.
Please attempt to connect to as MANY RMS as you can find and log what works for you and what does not.
Keep a track of the frequency, distance and direction of the RMS station you connect to and label them with the quality of the signal from your location! This becomes your written record of what will work best next time Rogers or Bell or whoever has a major outage. Try VHF, try HF, try ARDOP and record it all. One issue you may find is that there are almost no available ARDOP stations around any more as most have moved to VARA HF.If you can find someone to test P2P with, then do that, even try 6M or 10M FM as an alternate to 2MPlease state in your check-in what session type you used and if you used a local RMS, please state which ones worked for you.Looking forward to your checkins.
NEW FUNCTIONALITY to TEST.
If you are running VARA FM and see another active VARA FM user in your VARA FM log, then remember you can send them a direct P2P message even if they are not in P2P mode. Please try it using the P2P session and send your message as "Peer-to-Peer message" Only you as the sender need to be in P2P mode, the receiver does NOT need to be in P2P mode.
HOWEVER, please try to use HF Communications if possible
