On our winlink training session this evening and based on an upcoming S.E.T. that we will be involved in, we played with digipeater settings and got great results.

Any VARA FM station can become a digipeater provided they have a VARA FM license.

To configure yourself as a digipeater, go into the VARA FM window and in the menu click on Settings, then VARA Setup..

In the window that opens there is a single field for Digipeater. In this box enter your callsign with an SSID the suggestion is -7, so for MY system, I set it as VA3MCT-7. Your system would use URCALL-7

My system also happens to be an RMS station and setting this as a digipeater does not detract from the RMS side of this system.

Now for the user making the connection to another user, you need to change the kind of Peer-to-peer session from Direct to digipeater.

The red circle shows the drop down which is changed to digipeater, and the green circle shows the callsign of the end station you wish to connect to, i.e. the recipient of the P2P message. The blue circle is the name including SSID of the digipeater.

When you make a connection, the VARA FM screen status bar should show all three stations in the link. as shown below...

After lots of emails and queries and searches and agreement, it seems that the ideal SSID should be -4 and not -7 for this kind of digipeater.
