To whom in may concern ...

I am not able to sign into the new club page as the old page remembered my password and after 3 years I have forgotten it.

I have 4 times attempted to get a new password or code by following the directions and entering my user name, and been promised the club page will send me a link via my stated email. This has not happened and I am starting to become very ticked off. Don't know why the page was changed but not very conducive to encouraging participation. This has happened over the last 2 months or so.

I tried to re-join, but of course the system will not allow me to use my email address and open a 'new' account.

If signing into the club page is a condition of joining RAC, then forget it. I may at my own time and budget.

I expect a response ASAP, unless I am not a valued club member.

Hi
I have reset your password

Please use your email address as your login.
I will have to correct your account as it combined both of your call signs as an account name.

Hi John
I had the same problem last week
but got on  after a few tries
Can not find anything  I want from the old page
New is not always better
I agree that it  did need a up date .
I now find it almost useless, tried to click  on some thing that never worked .
All the old files are gone  if you want to look up something or refer how to do something you forgot  good luck .
Wonder how many others have had the some issues.
John you are a valuable  member .

Guys,

I appreciate what you do for the club, and here's some things you should know.

1. Several of us, mostly Rob VE3XBI, Alan VA3WAH and I, put dozens of hours over the holidays into moving the web site because the previous web site host tripled their rates.
2. Rob is providing the hosting at no charge to the club.
3. RAC has nothing to do with this. The extra $10 charge is for insurance, which costs the club an extra $13 for non-RAC members. RAC members don't pay the charge and get liability coverage for both personal and club activities. Non-RAC members get personal liability coverage when engaged in club activities. The choice is entirely yours
2. Web sites, like newsletters, require a lot of work to keep up to date. That work is done for free. Usually when I ask for help at club meetings I get zero response.

Hard work and volunteer at that, is appreciated by everyone. The formate can, I'm sure  be worked out.
It is however totally unacceptable to change another person's password without asking permission,  and then to take weeks to answer a request for a new one.
More clear queries as to content would have been appropriate.

Hi Ken
Thanks for your feedback. What was the content you were looking for as we still have access to the old server.

John/Ken,

To address your comment about changing passwords, there is no choice when moving a web site but to change them. Passwords are one-way encrypted. They can't be moved because we don't know what they are, so new passwords must be created.

Aggressively removing obsolete, incorrect and irrelevant content that was on the old web site was my decision. Every page takes time to create and maintain, so simpler is better for both the creators and the users. As Rob has said, if there is anything important left out, we are able to restore it. Please be specific.

73,
Chris

Hey fellow hams
How much was hosting? I can make a suggestion to a host provider that is, cost effective, if there is an interested I can post a Refferal link.
