Hello,
This is in regards to the EnableVideoSearch policy that is enabled by default. https://xfanatical.com/blog/how-to-block-video-search-in-google-slides-and-forms/

It seems Google has changed the UI for the insert video, and no longer has 3 tabs including the direct by URL. See the attachment for "New insert video" to see that there are now just 2 tabs, Youtube and Google Drive.

On the student side, this means that their only option to embed a video is Google Drive. See the attachment "student insert video" for a screenshot from a student device and login.

Is there any way to get the ability to embed by direct URL back? We obviously do not want students to be able to search but having it embed videos they had already found was nice.

Thanks,
Phil Greyson

Hello,

It's no longer possible allowing students to embed URL while disabling Youtube searching.
Google updated their UI of the Insert Video dialog in Google Slides last month. The two functionalities of searching Youtube videos and embedding Youtube URLs are merged into one feature. So it's impossible to disable one without disabling the other.

Thanks.
