Good evening everyone,
I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to address a recent incident that has come to our attention regarding speeding cars on Parkland Drive. It's essential for us as a rowing community to be responsible and considerate neighbors, and I want to emphasize the importance of adhering to the speed limit and driving safely through the neighborhood.
We received a phone call from a Wayland police officer today, who informed us that they have received multiple complaints about speeding cars in the area, specifically on Parkland Drive. This is a significant concern not only for the residents but also for our relationship with the neighborhood and the future of our practice route.
To be absolutely clear, it is imperative that every one of us, regardless of the circumstances, makes a complete stop at the four-way intersection and drives at a safe, controlled speed – no more than 15 mph. If you encounter pedestrians, children playing, or anyone else on the road, please slow down even further and exercise extra caution.
In the past, the police would issue warnings for such violations. However, the situation has now escalated to the point where they have decided to start issuing tickets. We cannot stress enough how crucial it is for us to respect the neighborhood and its residents. We do not want to jeopardize our ability to use this route for practice.
In the worst-case scenario, if the situation does not improve, the town might decide to ban us from driving through the neighborhood altogether, which would mean that everyone would have to park at the park and walk to practice. This is something we want to avoid at all costs.
I want to thank you all for your understanding and cooperation. Please take this matter seriously, and let's make a collective effort to ensure that we are good neighbors and responsible community members. Your commitment to following these guidelines will not only preserve our practice route but also demonstrate our respect for the people who live in this area.
Thank you, and let's work together to address this issue and maintain the positive relationship we have with our neighbors.
Best regards,
Mike Baker
