Hello Everyone!

Myself and the coaches are very excited to be undertaking our first ever, full team Brick Race tomorrow morning! In light of this, I wanted to go over a few particulars regarding the racing and the small celebration we will be having.

The first is our schedule.

Parent volunteers will be arriving at 8 am, preparing breakfast to be ready around 9 am

All athletes are expected to arrive before 8:30 a.m. in order to help with the setting up of the safety launches and other necessary set up. I will be down at the boathouse around 7 a.m. tomorrow to help with final set ups, so any eager athletes either looking to get a supplementary workout in or who want to help out are more than welcome.

Boats will be heading to the water shortly after 9, and commencing their warmup and preparation for the race. Racing will begin promptly at 10:15 am, with boats starting at the 'point' (which you will see on the map attached below. The boats will complete a full loop of the lake, returning to the same place in which they began, allowing for great spectating! Boats will return to dock, and join spectators in the field adjacent to our boathouse for some pancakes and bacon, some revelry, and of course, our trophy presentations!

Please feel encouraged as parents to come down and get to know the wonderful Wayland Weston community, as well as our new program director, Beatrice Sims. This is a great opportunity to get to better understand not only the sport but also how our organization works, and the family and community we strive to create. Take time to take in the racing, tour our boathouse, see the lake on which your athletes train, and get to know some of the people who work to keep things positive and exciting every day!

In terms of spectating, there are many trails in and around the lake that allow you to get close to the shore and right in the action! There will not be a better opportunity to see your kids rowing so up close and personal this season, as the way the racing is set up is principally oriented at getting the best view of the crews as they charge on by. In the map enclosed below, there are a few key observation points that you can feel free to camp out at to cheer on your athletes!

Marked in white is the course for the boats, and marked in red is the area along the shore to spectate!
