Hello Region 5~

As you are developing your 2026-27 WorkAbility budget projections, please be sure to account for the anticipated increase in California's minimum wage effective January 1, 2027.

For student wages, budgets should include:

  • A line item reflecting the current minimum wage rate of $16.90 per hour for the portion of the fiscal year prior to January 1, 2027.
  • A separate line item reflecting the projected minimum wage rate of $17.49 per hour beginning January 1, 2027.

When estimating student wage expenditures, please calculate projected hours accordingly and allocate costs between the two wage rates based on when the hours are expected to be worked.

Including both rates will help ensure that budget projections accurately reflect anticipated wage obligations for the 2026-27 fiscal year. If you have any questions while preparing your budget, please don't hesitate to reach out.
