Hi all!

Here is the flyer for the Webinars that FTN is sponsoring this year. Please share with your staff and families!

4/20 Think Big! Building Meaningful Lives Across the Lifespan
Think Big! Building Meaningful Lives Across the Lifespan What does a meaningful life look like for an individual with a disability, and what do families and professionals need to know to help support a positive vision for the future? This session will highlight the importance of taking a strengths-based approach to planning for a person’s future. Tools and strategies will be shared that help establish a lifespan view to planning based on all the “life domains” and support an individual’s ability to be the main decision-maker in their own lives.   Presented by: Sean Roy, TransCen
4/27  Understanding the Transition Process and Advocating for your Student
Students with disabilities spend between 15 and 18 years in special education and the end result should be effective preparation for employment, continued education and life in the community. The secondary transition process can be complicated, and many families have questions as they navigate a confusing period in their youth’s education. This session will explain the transition process, including how the focus of the IEP changes, and gives families tips for contributing to their student's individual transition plan to maximize the impact of special education. Presented by: Sean Roy, TransCen and Alyssa DiFilippo, Parents Helping Parents
5/4  Work is Possible: Setting a Vision for Employment
Having a real job for real pay brings many benefits, including enhanced community connections and the empowering feeling of working as part of a team. This session will highlight the importance of individuals with disabilities getting the opportunity to explore competitive employment and gives families the strategies and tools needed to support their loved ones towards employment success. Topics include an overview of the employment process, tools for making a good job match, and tips on how families can help build work skills. Presented by: Sean Roy, TransCen

Spanish and ASL interpreting will be available for all sessions
