A research team in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore is looking for a full-time research associate (or part-time research assistant). In collaboration with the research investigators, the research associate will apply data mining and ML/NLP methodologies to scrape social media data and analyze them. This includes identifying research topics from social media data and independently extracting empirically-based conclusions; applying various NLP, ML, and data analytics techniques; creating datasets from real-world data (in particular, social media sites); and writing research reports.
Qualifications:
Experience in applying machine learning and NLP/computational text analysis to real-world problems and datasets.
Hands-on experience with:
· Data scraping/mining of social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, WeChat) and official websites
· Machine learning (ML) and/or Natural Language Processing (NLP)-based text analyses
· Fluency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Java)
