Another interesting work: http://arxiv.org/abs/1306.3584

A two stage compositionality model: one for sentence level, another for modelling a discourse as a composition of sentences.

Uses RNN since they support inducing longer memory into the model. RNNs here pass back context information from the upper layers of the neural network helping to better model discourse.
