Hi all,

We are very fortunate to have a great NLP set of PIs in Singapore and supporting SSNLP through our joint organisation and push for participation!

Aside from the great job done by our multi-institution SSNLP 2024 collaboration, I'd like to put forward the possible work for the next installment, SSNLP 2025!

1) IMDA is interested as a core sponsor.  I talked with our IMDA heads and they feel that they also want to see SSNLP survive and thrive as they also feel NLP and ML as key areas of work for coordination.  They are eager to see more involvement of industry (which the organising committee did a great job with – mentorship session and industry talks).

2) I think we should also come around as a community to figure out a model for us as academics and industrial research leads to also figure out a good model for how to structure the organisation committee for a longer term.  This should probably mean that we also create a secretariat (a bit like COLIPS, PREMIA (or ask them to co-opt SSNLP) to help with this work.

3) ICLR 2025 is coming up in April 2025. A few of us (actually, Lizi and Albert, I just had the luck to overhear) were talking about it as it is an event where the world experts come to Singapore, and it may be easier to get external speakers to give keynotes.  Any hands up to lead this initiative for the community?

Hi all,

I think our current secretariat is working on the post symposium report and will share it soon here.  NUS would also like our NAII to be involved, but I have already told them (Bryan Low to be exact) that would be good to rotate duties to help the whole SG community level up and be more on the radar for global causes.

Regards,

Min

Hi everyone!

So glad to see the community growing super fast!!

Since ICLR will be at the Expo, one option could be to organize SSNLP at SUTD. This would be very convenient for the guest speakers.
