Running a ITT Race

I am trying to run an ITT race where the racers will start individualy when I tap the bib

Here is my setup 

I have a TAB which is the master that will be starting the race 

I have a Chainway Handheld RFID android device that will finish the race 

For testing I set the race as INDIVIDUAL/NORMAL

Set the tab as MASTER with Auto Data From Helper via Webscorer

Set the Handheld as helper (Not using the RFID simple Tap)

Test the race 

TAP Start and both device responds, tap each BIB and both device shows individual clock on the screen, and every thing works fine. But when I activate RFID on the Hardware section, the clock starts but when I tap the BIB on the master computer the helper does not show individual clock and when I trigger the RFID the ditection is not activated, I am still using the NORMAL race mode.

My RFID device is working, I have made the race multi device split and made the handheld as finish point  and tested with that, then the trigger works and detects bib, but still the race clock of the individual started does not stay individual anymore, and does not show in any device, it just records the main clock time for each bib, which is not usable as ITT format. 

What am I missing here?

If you’re using “Timing mode = Multi-device splits”, both devices must use the same timing mode. In other words, you cannot mix Master / Helper and Multi-device splits in the same race.

Use these settings on each device:

Start type = Individual
Timing mode = Multi-device splits
Auto-start race clocks = On
Timing points
Device #1 records = Start
Device #2 record = Finish

The device that records the Start will start the race clocks on both devices. You can also start the race clocks manually by tapping the “Start race clock” on each device at the same time.

Hi,

I just Tried that 

1. When I start the clock both system starts the clock But does not show individual time in any device when I tap a racer on the START computer.  

2. When a racer is detected at finish point it shows total time that has passed, not the individual time

3. The Finish Computer operator has no way of knowing who started.

That’s all by design.  The results from a race with “Timing mode = Multi-device splits” get calculated in one of two different ways:

1. Each device posts its data to Webscorer.com where the results are calculated as “Time = Finish time - Start time”

2. You collect the data from the start device to the finish device via Bluetooth after the race for the same calculation

“Timing mode = Multi-device splits” is designed to operate without requiring an internet connection during the race (or not at all).  You can set “Live results = On” on each device and then use a 3rd device which then downloads the live results from Webscorer.com to get near real-time results during the race - or have a 3rd device with a browser open to the live results page on Webscorer website.

You can use “Timing mode = Master / Helper” to do what you want - the two devices will automatically sync the data across so the finish device will know when someone started - and vice versa if you configure the Master to sync data back to Helper.

However, we don’t recommend the Master / Helper setup for multiple timing points, as the setup is reliant on a good internet connection for the duration of the race.  If you determine in your testing that this won’t be an issue, then that’s how you can use “Start type = Individual” and get the data from the start device synched over to the finish device.

Here’s an example why we don’t recommend using Master / Helper for timing multiple timing points.  

Let’s assume you have a downhill race with the Helper recording start times at the top of the hill and the Master recording finish times at the bottom of the hill.  Start type = Individual.  Sync data via Webscorer.com.  If the internet works 100%, all is well.

However, if there’s even a temporary internet connection outage, it is possible that the Master ends up recording the finish time before the Helper’s start time gets synched to the Master.  What happens now is that the intended “finish” time recorded at the Master device gets recorded as the “start” time - and when the real start time arrives at the Master device, it gets ignored.  You’ll have to manually fix the results.

"Timing mode = Multi-device splits” avoids this problem by designating each device to record a specific timing point.  No internet connection is required during the timing.  When using live results during the race where each device is posting its timing data to Webscorfer.com, there is no problem if the start time gets posted after the finish time has already been posted.
