Hi Lee, within libwebp we treat the metadata as an opaque blob. Starting to parse and interpret the various metadata types would add to the security surface as well as lead to perpetual additions of workarounds for malformed types of xmp, exif. This has been the reason we've left post-processes like this to the application.

If you wanted to burn in the metadata tools like imagemagick's convert can help, -auto-orient should achieve this if I'm remembering correctly.

Understood, that makes sense to keep the scope of this manageable! :) Thanks for the tip, I'll use imagemagick for rotation.
