Hey everyone!
Just wanted to share some good news here: I've been working on a proposal to add WebP textures to the open 3D model format glTF, and the extension has just been approved!
This is exciting because we can now officially use WebP textures for 3D models on the web, and for some situations like geospatial data at Cesium (https://cesium.com/), this could leave to significant gains for streaming massive models.

I think it's really cool to see advances in web technology making such a big difference to people in geospatial. That's what I love about the web, open and accessible to all!
