Hi there,

Apologies if this has already come up, but it seems like there is no libraries out there that can read and write webp for Java. The ones that exist depend on calling an external native application or OS-specific code.

Is there a reason for this? Is there some way to have my java application read and write webp without having to install an application alongside mine or call OS-dependent code?

Much appreciated,

Thanks!

William

There have been some older threads [1], but it looks like a few new options are available.

I haven't tried any of the solutions in this thread [2], but looking quickly at the TwelveMonkeys solution [3] it does appear to have java code for both lossy (VP8) and lossless.

Much appreciated,

Thanks!
