Is there a way to make the KMPlayer be able to play WebM videos? Like
downloading a codec or plug-in or something?

mplayer (which KMplayer uses) has had support for WebM for a long time.  How old is your version of KMplayer and mplayer?  What system (OS and version) are you trying to play them on?

IIRC, KMPlayer uses multiple backends (gstreamer, xine, mplayer,
phonon), so one or more of these must be outdated on your system. You
might start by getting a more current mplayer. Also check that you
have a suitable gstreamer installation. More:

Have you tried installing the DirectShow components for WebM?

Can you direct me to a link where I can download KMPlayer? I don't
know much about it, but if it's a Windows-based media player, there's
a good bet that it also supports DirectShow.

Looks like it will use DShow filters. [1]

On looking closer, it seems there are two products called 'KMPlayer':
the closed-source Windows freeware app that Matt and the Wikipedia
article (and maybe the OP) refer to [2], and the KDE app I was
referring to earlier. [3]

Note that the Windows app has ... issues. [4]

I definitely thought he meant the KDE app.  I was not aware of the Windows-only one.

Same problem here, I have an old PC running Win XP and an old version of KMPlayer is able to play webm videos, but on my Asus N550j laptop running Win 8.1 the KMPlayer 3.8.0.122 can't play the same webm video. Maybe I need to change some settings. Any guides may help, Thanks.
