New issue 1659 by senekeri...@
gmail.com: WebM Not Exporting Alpha
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/webm/issues/detail?id=1659Here is the exported video file for reference:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YDy29TGj9KZay9jFOqp_lHKiURXRDYi8Attached will be an After Effects project file for any expansive testing or reference.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run the linked file that includes alpha through Premiere or Media Encoder with Include Alpha Channel turned on (with both VP8 and VP9).
2. Place the file back into any editor or streaming software and view the WebM file.
3. WebM file will not include the alpha channel.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- I expected the file to retain the alpha channel, but it replaces the alpha channel with a black background, regardless of whether I'm using VP8 or VP9, what bitrate, bit depth, render quality, etc.
What version are you using? On what Windows version?
- Tested on both Mac and Windows 10, using the 1.1.0 version of WebM.
Please provide any additional information below.
This is the only time I've experienced any issues with including alpha in a WebM video. I've transcoded numerous videos prior to this that all retained the alpha channel, but this specific one does not. I've placed the file in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and OBS, and the result is always the same. The DNxHR, Apple ProRes 4444, and GoPro Cineform codecs all retain the alpha information, but WebM does not.
If there's any other information I can provide, please let me know! Thank you!
