Hello,

I'll be using a lot of videos in the webm format and I'm having trouble finding a program that will allow me to fast forward through the video. Right now I have to convert them to .mp4 but I would really like to cut this step out.

Can you help??

Thanks for your time!

You don't say what platform you're on, but mplayer can certainly seek through webm videos.

Matt.

It depends what you mean by 'fast forward'. VLC can seek in webm videos
as well, but depending on the encoding there can be a small delay or
glitch. It also supports skipping forward and backw in short steps, and
playback speeds between 1/4x and 4x realtime.

Proper scrub support is generally only available in a non-linear video
editing application with a large amount of memory and disk for caching
decoded frames, but that's true of mp4 as well.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for your response! I ended downloading the k-lite mega codec pack which seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your response! The K-Lite mega codec package did the trick for all my windows users but I have a few mac users that I'm trying to figure out now. By Fast forward I do mean seek through by grabbing the little bar. The newest version of VLC didn't seem to allow seeking through a webm video on their macs. It just snapped back to the beginning.

It worked on my mac with a handful of videos I tried. May depend whether
they have in index or not.
