Does anybody have a 105 shifter (left) in a working condition that would like to get rid of for a reasonable price?

My left shifter has started acting odd where it takes 2 clicks to drop or pull up to a different chain ring (it takes lots of power to shift as well).

try replacing the cable and housing. The are notorious for fraying in the shifter causing very sluggish shifting. Also clean & lube the shifter with a light oil like Triflow.

You can also spray a bunch if LPS into it. That will lubricate and clean it.  You can use the 20 min stand at Recycle Cycles.  They have that fluid and can help you out! My shifter was a bit sticky last year and that fixed it right up.

Just took it apart. There is a small piece that is broken. The lube will not fix it unfortunately :( so back to searching for the left shifter.

Maybe try calling McPhails, King Street and Ziggys. They often have parts bins from people upgrading, crash replacements, etc.

What series shifter are you looking for?

It is 105 flydeck. It is on my 2008 I believe Blue CX 6.5 so not sure what version it is. As long as it works and it is for dual I would be fine with that:)image1.jpeg

There is a very active facebook group - "Toronto Road/CX Bike - Classifieds" - that often has components like that listed. You could post an ISO (In search of) on there and may get responses.

I have a newer left Sora shifter you are welcome to. It will work for a double chain ring in the front. I think I also have an old 105 one for a triple. You can give either a try and see if one works.

Just checked, I also have the front derailer to go with the shifter so you could swap both no problem.

Thanks  for the offer Phil. I was able to get the broken part directly from Shimano as it is apparently a common issue. Their older 105 shifters were made to work with the 2x and 3x and that tiny stopper could not handle the stress. I was surprised how easy it was to deal with Shimano tech assist.

Cheers and see you on the road or trails soon!
